Ok. It is E85 engine, 2013 5.7l. It has had this intermittent problem since new. I took it to dealer several times years ago for reflash, a couple times they could not recreate the problem. I finally convinced them to reflash, they said they did it (I did not get documentation, I know, ignorant)and problem was gone for a while.

The problem is back and worse. Very slow cold starts. Engine hesitates to crank when ‘cold’, well, sometimes.:annoyed: Cooler weather seems to make it worse(in south FL son no real cold weather). Seem like weak battery but it is a new optima yellow top, (3rd battery I have had in this truck and did it with all).

The engine turns over very slowly at start and gradually speeds up until it reaches what sounds like the normal starting RPM and then it fires. Sometimes it takes two key turns for it to get there...

Once it fires, it idles perfect no hiccup or stumble or dip in RPM, never stalls. Only happens intermittently on FIRST start of day never after the truck is warm and has been driven around. It doesn’t ever continue to crank after key is turned back off... Truck is always parked slightly nose down...

I saw others were able to verify that the ecu was reading high ethanol levels, I am wondering if the dealer checked this for them or how they got that information. I don’t want to go in and bother with dealer if it is not an ecu/update issue, as the truck is just out of my extended warranty. (Wondering if update was truly ever done to my vehicle tho.)

Under the hood has never been wrenched on by anyone other than normal maintenance.

Frustrating, I have 3 Toyotas in my driveway because I did not want to have to deal with these problems. I hate making threads like this but I am just disgusted as I love this truck but for what I use the truck for I just can’t have it in the back of my mind that it one day might decide not to start and leave me stranded...

I just don’t know exactly where to go from here. If you made it thru this entire rant, thank you.

Look up the TSB or recall on the fuel pump.. this will most likely solve your issues, but take it to another stealership as this one, may be giving you the runaround... if you search on this forum you will find this TSB
