Annoyances with the factory unit that comes with the 2020 SR5 Upgrade package. As background:
    1. I have no interest in Toyota’s Connect technology - I feel like they (and all carmakers) are deceptively selling my driving stats (speed, braking, location history, etc.) to any company who will buy it.
    2. I don’t want Siri running on my phone and CarPlay won’t work without it, so I’ve concluded I won’t be using that feature.
    3. To use Maps, I have to pay for a cell plan and (I think) download it through the Entune app.
Core things I want from my “radio” are:
    1. Phone bluetooth - works great!
    2. Streaming music and podcast app options on the head unit touch screen other than iTunes
    3. Map navigation controls on the head unit
    My questions are:
    1. Does Android Auto work without having to turn on additional listening tech on the phone?
    2. Will the “Projection” option on the radio get me what I want?
    3. Are there aftermarket replacement solutions (i.e., Pioneer, Kenwood) you guys would recommend for my relatively basic wants?

LOTS of threads on here. A bunch of us have upgraded to the Kenwoods - I have a DMX906S and it’s been great. Tons of features, integrated OBDII interface. Search this forum and you’ll find tons of opinions.

That OBDII functionality would be an awesome and very welcome addition! Thanks!
