Ticking sound

Wonderful .. so get in my 2008 sr5 and hear a nice ticking sound. My mufflers are shot with holes in them but any ideas what this ticking sound is. Doesn't sound good. Oil level fine

Almost sounds like a vacuum hose has came apart. All hoses are connected?

 

How or where do I check? I will say exhaust isnloud...holes in both mufflers.

 

Old trick i learned for finding noises. Get a piece of hose, close to 3/4", about 3-4 ft long. Hold one end to your ear and run the other end around where you roughly think the noise is coming from. Should be able to find it that way.

I've used this trick many many times over the years. Works well on finding squeaky pulleys, vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks...etc.
