Having a hard time deciding what I should do first.

    1. I wanna upgrade my suspension, currently I have a 2.5 inch suspension kit from rough country. I was thinking about upgrading to "Bilstein 6112 Strut & Spring Assembled + Rear B8 5160 Reservoir Shocks Set for 2007-2019 Toyota Tundra AccessCab 4WD RWD". I usually just do highway driving and light offroading. Might swing by a off-road shop to see what other parts I need beside the kit.

    2. The only chrome I have left on my truck is mirror cap, door handles, grille "thinking about changing my 17 1794 grille to the 17 trd pro one", hood bulge, and front bumper. "why the hell are sunset bronze mica parts so expensive :(". Will probably buy the 17 trd pro grille black and get everything color matched at a paint shop.

"Picture isn't up to date, changed my running board to Tyger Auto Star Armor Kit"

    Any input would be nice~

Get that chrome off and swap that grille out. Will drastically change the look. For the better in my opinion!

Ah, the perfect thread for me as I also have a sunset mica bronze Tundra. I upgraded from the Bilstein 5100's to the 6112/5160 and haven't looked back. The ride is the basically the same on the road as the 5100's and damn nice. I have no complaints. Off-road the truck is a dream. The new setup takes larger hits FAR better than the 5100's and I don't see or feel shock fade as things heat up. I accidentally hit a cattle guard at high speed (60mph) a couple of months ago that had about a 10" drop below the road and the suspension soaked the hit up like it wasn't even there. I was absolutely shocked that my head wasn't poked out through the roof.

I also got rid of all the chrome on my truck and went with the TRD Pro grille. It completely transforms the look of the truck in a good way.

Here's a couple of shots of my truck I took from a couple of weeks ago in a rare moment of it being clean. haha

    I concur..
    Ditch the chrome..

If you like your current ride, the 6112s are gonna make it much stiffer..
I have them, I know, I feel every bump in the road as well and every seam in the concrete..

But I love the lift/leveled look I ended up with...

If money is tight - do the chrome delete and be done. You might find some 6112s on here at a decent price. +1 for the 2014-2017 TRD pro grille!

Thanks man! It's been a fun project so far. But yes, you aren't kidding. Sparks is quite proud of their prices. It might be worth getting a quote locally from a body shop to color match and paint a grill for you. Might save some money just buying a TRD Pro grille from Roman in a standard color and having it painted locally. Honestly, it was the shipping expense that made it so over-the-top to get the paint matched grille and bulge.

I think its 20 dollars difference between roman and spark part but I think his dealership is only selling locally is what he told me.

Do the black badges too. I did not do any lift or level. I already can feel the extra drag and addl road-noise from the larger KO2s. But it looks sweet...

Nice setup! Did the front end drop any with that front bumper? I'm still deciding on whether to put a DV8 bumper on (with a winch later). Or maybe go with a semi hidden winch.

I was looking at that picture earlier and thought the same thing. LOL. Tall enough to fit a truck and wide enough to get around and work on the truck.

Thanks! I don't notice a ton of droop on the front end when I put the bumper on. The truck came with the bumper and 5100's. I installed the 6112's and 5160's back in October with a set of Old Man Emu 2.5" leaf springs. Unfortunately, I lost the "level" that was on it with this setup and am now deciding what to do to gain another .75" up front to level it back out. Although it still looks good and sits level with a load in the back. I have had the bumper off a couple of times replacing headlight bulbs and what not; its a beast but only sags the front end maybe a quarter inch. I will be putting a winch on it in the next couple of months. I decided to put a compressor on it first since being able to air down off road is the first step in not getting stuck in the first place. I'll try to remember to report back when I add even more weight to the front end with a winch.

Thanks for the information! I'm thinking the OME Springs may be keeping that front end up. I'm getting some Icons, and I found out after they were ordered that the spring rate is only 600. I may need to look into upgrading to 700 later. Definitely keep us updated on your upgrades!

I'm seeing that as I look at the different discussions. I have them already. I just haven't tried to put them on. Waiting for my Icon suspension to be installed. I see people are having issues installing the DV8 and aligning them up. I may sell the bumper and look at a semi hidden winch and maybe a bull bar. I've seen Warn has one. (anyone want to buy a DV8 bumper? Never installed. LOL).

Which OME springs? There are 3 different rated springs with the heaviest rated capable of easily handling the additional weight of an ARB full bumper w/guard , winch and pretty freaking heavy.

I put a DV8 on my 07. Huge mistake. Not only extremely poor fitment but powder coating started to peal almost immediately. Chinese robot welded junk.

I think mine came with 600 or 650lb springs. I don't remember exactly. I'll look around and see if I can find the info for you guys.

Did your front end drop with the DV8 install? Icon and the shop installing my suspension is telling me not to change the springs to 700 to hold the extra weight. Won't be covered in warranty. they want me to use front bump stops to keep the height. But there's old discussions where Icon is telling people to upgrade to 700. Not sure why they changed their mind.

Not at all. I used the 614 springs with my OME coilovers and got close to 2.75" lift. I had a Smittybilt winch too.

I dislike chrome as much as anybody, BUT my very first mod, after purchasing my Tundra, was suspension, wheels and tires. I can stand the chrome for a period of time, but the pooky, little OEM wheels and tires are an abomination on a truck like this. I vote for suspension upgrade, then at the very least, new, larger tires.

Leveled, front bumper, LED headlight conversion. Soon - S&B Cold Air, Bilstein 6112/5160's, 35's.
Hahaha! Ok. So here is what I did. Maybe this will help you in your decision making process. Bought the new truck in May after another driver folded my old 2010 in half for me on the interstate. New truck (Sunset Mica) came leveled (5100's) with a bumper, and canopy. So right off the bat, I didn't "need" to do the suspension immediately. The ugly stock chrome-tastic grill was cracked and broken and was definitely in need of replacing. I also hate the halogen headlight bulbs and spend a ton of time off road in the mountains at night, so LED upgrades are a must. I decided to do the headlights, fogs (bulbs only at this point), and grille first. In total, the cost of doing that was less than the cost to do the suspension I planned for later on. Also, the brainiacs at Toyota changed the design of the 3rd Gens and you must disassemble the front of the truck to change the damned bulbs. In my case it also requires removing the bumper so it makes sense to do it all at once. Needless to say, I've gotten very efficient at that process now. Once I got the lights and grille/bulge done it really transformed the look of the truck. After that, it became apparent that the rear suspension was shot. Fast forward a couple of months and I upgraded to the 6112/5160 combo with the Old Man Emu 2.5 leaf springs along with a set of air bags. I probably would have held off on the suspension longer if the back wasn't in desperate need of replacement. From there, I decided to go with lighting (42" bar, ditch lights, and entirely new fog lights). This goes back to the fact that I spend so much time off road and in the large furry critter filled mountains at night and is a safety consideration. I really wanted to put new tires and wheels on it back in September but the tires were in great shape and not "needed." Next I had the bed spray lined because I was tired of all my gear sliding around in the back and water leaking in from the hole-filled Toyota beds. Then, with winter fast approaching in October I justified the expense to myself and upgraded wheels and tires. I told myself that the current tires would not be able to get me to the places I needed to go in the mountains as soon as the snow fell. 95% true and what the wife agreed with. Lol. So now the truck is as you saw it in my original response. The air compressor will be installed by early next week and then I will be moving toward a winch in the next couple of months.

Ultimately I tried to schedule upgrades in a manner that made practical sense while also juggling affordability at that particular moment in time. In the grand scheme of things, is the chrome delete "necessary?" No. But looks are obviously a major part of why we build our trucks. You don't seem like you are in any immediate need to replace suspension either. The chrome delete will be less expense than the suspension upgrade by at least a couple hundred dollars. I guess you just have to decide if you're gonna drop the higher dollar amount now or later.

Yeah, that is true I could hold up on the suspension for now. The 6112/5160 kit is sold out at most places or overpriced af atm. I already changed my headlight and fog to the trd pro one and got DD exhaust "love it". Changed all my light bulbs "inside and out" to led, phone charging tray, pedal commander and new running board. The only three thing I wanna do is 1.suspension, 2.chrome delete and 3. better brakes down the line.
