Any thoughts on the TRD dual exhaust system from Toyota?
How does it sound, performance, cost, etc. thanks.

I have it on my 2018 and it sounds great. It happened to come with it so I don't know about performance/sound before vs after the TRD exhaust. It is a bit spendy though and there are better after market options.

welcome from So Cal. I have that exhaust on my truck and have been happy with it. If was to do it all over again I would have most likely gone with Borla.

I have it and like it [it came on my truck]: good throaty sound without crossing the line into annoying.

This is coming from a guy who has had really loud systems on his trucks before [too loud to easily talk with someone in the back seat, for instance].

I guess it depends upon what you want/preference.

I don't want to draw attention to myself, but do like the improved sound.

P.S. If I was buying one after-market, pretty sure I'd go with dirty deeds.

Upgraded mine from the stock single to the trd dual. I enjoy the sound difference but I'd say any performance improvement would be negligible. From what I've seen, I'd go with the dirty deeds single if I had to do it over again.

Thanks for the feedback; and it seems that "Dirty Deeds" done dirt cheap is the winner!

I really like mine now after about 10,000 miles. It came with the truck. It had an annoying helicopter resonance when new, which has mellowed with time. It has a nice tone, not too loud.

I used Keith's systems too. I liked them as well. If my truck came with the OEM single outlet exhaust, I would probably wait for one of Keith's group buys, and pick up a standard system for a few hundred cheaper than the TRD exhaust.

Was fortunate enough and Picked up a near new system for cheap. It’s definitely not loud at all. Performance wasn’t really noticeable to me, if any. But I wouldn’t cough up the money for one if I hadn’t found such a sweet deal.

Paid for and had to have the dealer put them on. Great sound, not obnoxiously loud, fits great on my truck, and the duals plus the cold air intake I believe help me get 17.1 on my 4x4 at between 60ish to 70mph!! Oh ya did I mention they sound great!!?? But,,, to each their own, everyone has their own opinions about what and why they have the add ons on their vehicles. I just stick with all Toyota stuff for the most part because I really can’t do all the work myself and if anything ever goes wrong I know I can take it back and they will fix it on their dime. I have been using the same dealer and service manager for years and I know they will always take care of me and that is the only and main reason why I stick with Toyota parts! I don’t like the price but I only pay one time and that is great not to worry. VROOOM VROOM!!!!:). Merry Christmas to everyone!!

    Thanks for the mentions guys.

the trd system is a really well engineered system. And the stainless steel mandrel bent tailpipes with polished tips are also awesome.

that said, knowing what I know of tundra exhaust. There needs to be an x pipe to maximize low end torque. And there needs to be helmholtz resonators to kill the drone. Our trucks are very sensitive to exhaust and it’s easier to make it worse than to make it better.

I recommend a single exhaust when running stock exhaust manifolds and not long tube headers. Duals, even with an x pipe, loses low end torque.

    call for details.

I love my TRD exhaust and have no regrets. Nice purring exhaust that isn't annoying. Having said that, I've talked with Keith before and his knowledge / customer service it top notch. You can't go wrong with @dirtydeeds either.

I just picked up a 2021 TRD Pro and am experiencing the same noise, best described by Ed "annoying helicopter resonance" .Primarily only when at steady cruising speeds. Good to hear that is may go away as I get more miles on the truck.

Reach out to Keith at Dirty Deeds Industries at 760-877-4234 and ask him about this noise. One of our resonators may help you.

It will mellow with a couple thousand miles, but never fully go away. Everybody tolerates it differently. I did ultimately sell mine to another member and currently run a DD 12 inch single outlet.

I used the dual tailpipe resonators and they definitely work, but make the exhaust sound much quieter too.

My recommendation would be to put some miles on it and re-evaluate.

I test drove a '21 Pro solely to hear the exhaust and see the low end torque difference myself. I fell in love with the sound and the salesperson even told me to open it up on an on-ramp (which REALLY brought it to life!). Needless to say I ordered my set yesterday and plan on painting it with hi-temp black paint prior to install.

Yes, I love the sound except for the drone. Ive got a call into Keith at Dirty Deeds, hopping that the Helmholtz Resonator will help? Looks easy enough to install, just want tot have a quick conversation to make sure thats what he would recommend to solve this.
