Had a 96 Honda Civic LX 5speed. Got it right around the time of the Original Fast and Furious movie. Some may not like it but that movie cemented me into the car Mod world . Dropped the civic 4 inches, wheels and tires. Header, intake, cat back, short shifter. Big stereo neon lights the works... True early 2000s style...Wasn't fast, but gave the feel of being fast. Some may understand what I mean but I redlined that thing daily an it took it for about 3 years an got me out of highschool an into college. My mom ended up taking it when purchased a 03 WRX. She dove it (stock) for another 12 years... Thing never quit. Sold it to a buddy's little brother.. Great reliable car.. Had alot of fun... Wasn't even a Vtec model..

    Amen to that!
I had some fun in mine and it had been my Dads too before he brought home the Eldorado with the 501!

That thing sucked down some gas too but then gas was under a quarter back then until the Embargo days.

My Dad never had an appreciation for Japanese cars though until years later he got a Nissan Pickup,Lemon Yellow and drove the piss out of it.
That was a funny picture too!

One of the drive shafts snapped in the middle of a busy intersection while I was driving his '72 501 Eldo rag top... he had pretty good instincts for new cars, he flipped a Delorean for a decent profit when they first came out. I had full access to all of them except the Delorean, so I had a feel for what was out there at a young age.

My 400-2V '72 Luxury LeMans in front of his Lincoln.

My sisters V8 Monza is visible... that was a cool car that nobody wanted to work on

My Cutlass was my Grandmothers before mine and it was Baby Blue with the Blue Pleather Top.

I drove that home across the country in the 1982 Blizzard with my standard Highway rubber and somehow it was unstoppable?

    4WD? we didn't need no stinkin 4WD!

My Dad made it a mission to put each of his boys into a beater car. I think he remembered his teenage years. So, I was the third brother to inherit this beast. I can't find a picture of the actual car, but this is what I remember. This thing was heavy, slow, handled like s8%t and braked even worse. I'm sure it had seat belts, but I don't remember using them when I started driving it in '74.

So that Green 98 was my first car like I said but there is no pic of that one except in the memory of my family and I and all of my old friends that I know of.

A few years ago I was doing a job in Down East Maine of all places and as I passed this Harley Dealer one day I spotted the car that I showed the pic of sitting on the lot for sale!
I about died as it is almost exactly like the car that I had and I wondered through it a few times remembering the times that I had in the real one.

    What are the odds?

My Mom’s hand-me-down ‘76 Buick Skylark. Used to break down on me all the time. The pic is not mine, but that’s what it looked like, same color and everything.

1978 White Triumph TR-7, purchased through Military discount option, P/U direct from factory, killer price $4800.

But what a headache in mechanical issues similar to what other posters had, ended up after many warranty repairs, trading it in after 6 months for a Volvo GT

In 1986 my first car was a 1978 Mustang hatchback with a 4-banger.
Not the glory years for Mustangs, but the chicks would dig it.
The thing was a tank in snow, thankfully, living here in SW Michigan.

I had an '86 and an '87 S10 Blazer both of them were good The one I smacked the tree at 55 mph and walked away. The 86 I ended up putting a 3.4 out of a 95 Camaro.

My dad's had a ton of electrical issues. His next 3 vehicles all had manual locks and windows because of that. But he also was able to make it home in a blizzard when everyone else slid off the highway.

In 1991 my parents gave me a 1984 Honda Accord. This car set the tone for me. Since then I have only owned Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda products... well excluding my toys. I love American muscle when it comes to performance cars.
