Who's got dogs? Post your pup!

I know how much it hurts - I've lost a few over the years and it NEVER gets any easier. Enjoy the memories of the >15 years you had with her! I still actively and fondly remember my closest furry friends even while I appreciate my newer ones!

Well just found out tonight my buddy has cancer. **** 2020

 

That is awesome. A pack of labs. We've had a black, a chocolate, and now a foxred. All males. Next one will be a female.

 

My female is smarter than all the males. She is also needy at times. The males are more athletic and independent. Otherwise great dogs.

 

That was the worst. Not having your dog(s) greet you at the door and the house went quiet. We started turning music on when we got home.

It gets better.

 

Are you breeding them? Do they all ride in the jewsNbrews' Tundra?

 

The black ones are mine. And yes they all ride in the tundra. The other two are my dad's. They are brother and sister. Siblings to my youngest as well. They are all my oldest labs niece and nephews. The other black male is a rescue I picked up this last summer. Dad intends to breed his female. He is thinking with a friend's poodle, have labradoodles.

 

Totally understand not being ok after losing a dog. It's a terrible kind of heartbreak. I'm sorry for your loss.

Man, doubly choked up for both of you. It is amazing how much animals become a part of our lives and how hard the loss is when they go. Someone else said that a dog’s life is too short, and that is the cold truth. But we never forget them... we only find enough room in our hearts to love another while remembering.

I don’t know how we would handle such a diagnosis, honestly. It’s hard to think about something like this when the member of the family that has the disease can’t express their own desires to hearing such news. Hopefully it is something that can be treated without loss of quality of life? Either way, my heart goes out to you.

 

@RainMan_PNW Thanks man. Not sure how to handle it right now. Ive been out of work with a back injury now this. 2020 sucks. Praying for good prognosis after oncology consult.

 

She has that attitude as well she's the runt of the litter. She is fiesty, but a sweetheart.

 

Ally Ann Absolute Awesomeness
She cares only about two things:
Food
Her ball

she’s got no fat because she will dead sprint for the ball 30-45 minutes solid at least 3x a day - I use a chuck-it to give her ~40-60 yards to run for it and she can usually out run the throw.

We got her because our older lab was lonely after a trip to visit my parents (where she would play with their dog). Ally’s small ~50-60 lbs, but so energetic and so damn smart.

taking a break after 30 minutes on the beach... then she wanted to go again 5 minutes later

 

You both reminded me of this image I had saved after I let go of my first.



We do have two other pups that are litter mates, so the house isn't completely empty.

It just feels so jarring to go from 4 dogs (1 was a foster that just found an adopter 2 days ago. We've had her since March) to 2 in such a short period.

 

So sorry to read this. Yeah...@#$* 2020.

I'm really sorry to hear that! Enjoy the time you have left together and make some more memories.

 

My puppy lived two years with it.
Meds etc helped her.
I let her go on about 6 months too long though.
A UPS driver looked at her when delivering a package in horror so I had to take a good look at her.

I was selfish.

I still tear up and its been over 5 years.

So very sorry to hear that! My girl Terra was diagnosed with bone cancer back in October. We are putting her to rest today. Enjoy every last minute you have! Dogs truly are man’s best friend!

 

She looks like a big sweetie! Sorry for your loss. Give her a few pets for me too.

 

Sorry for your loss. I know just how you feel, my wife and I had a time that we lost 3 pups in 5 years. That was tough.

 

The last few pages.... This year f**king sucks.

To all who have lost their friends, or who are having to struggle with the decision to do what's best for them, you are not alone. We love them as best we can, and that's half what they deserve. They give us so much, and ask for so little in return. My dog has saved my life just by being a friend. I don't want to think about what the next few years will inevitably bring, so I am just going to make sure she knows how much she means to me. Stay strong, and remember the good times our friends have brought us.
