I put together a set of the steel spare wheels, I prefer the look over the 5 spoke steelies. A quick shot of Rustoleum Antique Brass Metallic to make them look OK for the winter.

I'm considering center caps, if there's one that I like that will actually fit. I've ordered a set of black acorn lug nuts.

At some point I'll strip and coat them in the classic Toyota grey wheel color.

Original alloy wheel TPMS sensors swapped right over.

lovely. Where did you get the spare wheels? I’d love to pick up some cheap Steelers for snow tires. I’ve asked the dealer, they claim they can’t get them or sell them.

Doesn't look bad at all. . .definitely a good way to shed some weight, too

Love em. I think they look awesome.

There was a set of aftermarket Level8 rims (Hauler) that I wanted, but my family said they looked too much like steel rims and wouldn't allow it. What do they know?

    Nice job!

I pieced the set together one at a time from the usual places (CL, etc), it didn't really take that long once I started looking around. 2 from random folks and 2 from a salvage yard.

You say steel spares? Seems my 2018 spare says for temporary use only due to the wheel being limited duty or something like that. Never looked at my 2016 spare.

I found a complete set of steel SR wheels on FB for $50... included sensors and ole original tires. So now time to find some tires.

and buy the electronic tops to reprogram tpms...

That's great! Looks retro. Reminds me of the 70's and early 80's yotas.

In a sense, that is the idea. What I really want is a giant, 400hp HiLux.

The tires are 275/65/18. I'd love some more ratio, a 75 or so.

While these wheels did have a "temporary use only" sticker, they are certainly full size, full strength steel wheels. A conversation with a dealer-associated friend of mine mentioned that it's temporary because Toyota doesn't put TPMS sensors in the spare (at least in this era) and so it can't be recommended for constant use for legal reasons.

IMHO, I can't imagine Toyota could put a full sized spare on a truck and not have it be rated the same as all the other wheels. It's got the same tire, and the weight rating of the truck doesn't change with a spare on it (at least I can't find any reference to that).

I believe there was a work truck package years ago that included those rims

i would also guess that it says temporary use because spare tire often doesn’t match the others
