2005 DC w/ 60K Orig. miles in San Diego

Not sure if this is allowed . . . I'm not affiliated in any way. I have my own Tundra. I just saw this one with very low miles and thought someone may be interested. There are 2 or 3 other Gen 1 Tundras on craigslist Orange County CA with very low miles as well.

I follow that dealer on Instagram and they always find very clean used Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

I've been there twice to check out cars. They shuffle a lot of good quality Japanese cars but the prices are up. They have some really sweet modified rides in the garage but those don't seem to be for sale.

My brother in law almost got a manual IS300 there but the trunk had a bit of funk. Those cars seem to be prone to water intrusion in the trunk.

 

Yep. They seem to buy clean GX's at auction(I'm guessing), then they "build" them. New suspension, timing belt, etc. They must crank out a few of those each week. It's good for the CA hipster than wants gram points but doesn't want to pick up a wrench. I can't hate. To each their own.

 

Like a better version of Pimp My Ride, without all the terrible crap. They're smart though, plenty of people buy cars from them.

It seems like a decent business model that draws plenty of customers. I'm sure they're making some modest profit with the car market around here these days.

Also not trying to gatekeep or anything but the non-wrenching hipsters are a serious thing... but to each their own, your life your rules, not everyone has tools or a place to work. I remember this one dude who was actually older than me wanted to check out my bed box when I was boondocking in my cap on a trail. He legitimately asked with a serious face where I bought it and I said "Home Depot, but some assembly is required."

That is the same place i picked up my truck from.
Cd player didn't work
Carrier bearing needed to be replaced
They sprayed clear coat over the TRD sticker on the bed. Found that out when i put my custom sticker.

Other then that I was happy to shop there.

 

Nice truck for sure, but for 20k$?
60k is awsome low miles for a 15 year old truck, but is it really worth the price?
I picked up my 2004, almost exactly same as this one, including the color, with 80k more miles on it for 7.5k$.
Question then, is the extra 12k$ worth it for a truck with 80k less miles?

Prior to looking for the right Gen-1 for 2 years, I hadn't really considered the truck market here in So Cal. I started to give some consideration to getting the newest used crew-cab tacoma I could afford (glad i didn't) but they were so damn expensive, and I didn't want a glorified mini-truck. A father who's family owns a toyota dealership recently brought a fully loaded tundra demo-truck to his kids sports game . . . it had a few extra things the dealer had done. . . I couldn't believe the sticker. . . $78.5K ! I totally get that asking $20K is a gang of money for a 15 year old truck. I personally wasn't in a great position financially, but when I was able to get my '06 a few weeks ago w/ 68k miles, for $15K I jumped on it, not because it was or wasn't a great deal . . It was all I could afford financially, and given the reliability/ history of the Gen-1's I couldn't pass it up. No payments, insurance and registration stayed the same as the V6 '03 AC I had . . I just lost some MPG & turning radius, lol.

 

I think it's so dumb when people say original miles. Aren't all miles original miles? And if you have a new engine or transmission wouldn't you say x number of miles on new transmission or engine?

 

Agree'd . . . I think it's a toss-back to when they used to re-build motors and transmissions which is not as common anymore.
