Just ordered the attached items. I have never installed a radio before so I’m excited to tackle it. Any pointers you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Anyone know if I have to run any separate wires? Like power wire or anything like that? I have also heard there is a parking brake bypass? Any info on that would be awesome.

Make sure to flash current firmware on the Maestro, install is straight forward. The Maestro can only be flashed when disconnected from power, you can’t flash it while it’s installed. One tip - when trying to stuff all the new wiring harnesses and maestro back into the dash, it helped me to open the center speaker grille on the front dash to help pull wires through.

Thank you sir greatly appreciated. So end of the day I hook the harness from the deck to the maestro after flashing the maestro and it’s plug and play?. You know anything about the parking brake bypass. Looks like some may cut the green wire and ground it on the back of the unit?

    Brake bypass, easy way.
    https://youtu.be/LYb6A943gHo

You can also tie the green brake line to your harness' black ground wire.

Make sure you connect up the power antenna lead or you wont get any am/fm reception.

Thank you very much. The power antenna lead is a plug into the maestro or a separate wire you gotta run?

Antenna lead connects to the maestro. So basically the blue or blue/white lead on the Kenwood harness will be labeled as ant.cont.... or something along that line. Tie that wire to the maestro harness which also have similar labelling. This is to turn on the power to the antenna so it can get reception.

It's isn't as bad as one think. The maestro instructions guide is very helpful. You cant mess up. Color for color. Dont get intimidated by all the wires. This is a good way to learn bout your truck.

Make sure you unhook the Negative battery cable BEFORE starting any electrical work. It'll save you the headache of having blown fuse or shorts.

Thank you. I definitely would NOT have done that. That would have been a self correcting mistake haha.

Need to make a correction. I see you have the metra antenna adapter. Notice that blue wire on that adapter? That wire need to either tie in with the maestro or the Kenwood. Both places will provide power to that wire.

So here he says he doesn’t have to use a bunch of wires like the speaker wires. I still need to use those because I’m running stock speakers right?

If you have the jbl system with the factory amp. You wont use any of the speakers wires. You only need the white and grey rcas. Because the factory amp have the built-in dsp. It takes in 2 channels and spread them out to all the others.. that's why he said if you have factory JBL you will not need the other speaker wires.

If you dont have jbl then you would cut the white and grey rcas and connect them to your kenwood harness color for color for the speakers.

I don’t think I have the jbl. I have a 16 trd pro. So every wire on the kenwood harness including the 8 speaker wires will be connected to something? Or just cut the rca and connect those?

You can tell if you have jbl by looking at your door's speaker grill. It will have the JBL logo on the grill.

Once you cut the rcas (2), you will have 2 white, 2 grey, 2 purple, 2 green on the maestro. That's your 8 wires for the speakers.
On your kenwood, it will have the exact samething, same color.

So you will just match them up, solder, and heat shrink. Or connect them per your preference. Solder will be the best connection.

Have you download the maestro instructions guide yet?

You can do so here and give it a read over before starting.
    https://maestro.idatalink.com/searc...6&vehicle_model_id=325&vehicle_audio_id=13713

I put in your car info with amplified Non-jbl. But you need to confirm that first. Look under the passenger side seat, see if there is an amp there.

So those rca are going to get cut, capped and put to the side then I’m matching colors. I’m definitely going to solder and heat shrink. I have downloaded anything yet the unit should be here Saturday. I will give that a once over now so I can save some time during install. Did you wrap all the wires in electrical tape to neaten them up or did you use that other fabric tape?.

Do NOT wrap them up in electrical tape. During summer heat, it will get sticky and gooey.. if you can, get some Tesa tape. Otherwise, use small zip-ties will also work. The tesa tape wil be much cleaner look. Just like the youtube vid. They only use tesa fabric tape.

Yes, cut the rcas (white and grey) back bout 2in.. leave yourself extra wire so if you have to go back and re-join the rcas, you have room to do so.

So everything works but. The usb cable they sent me won’t plug into the back of the usb that’s already there and I forgot to hook the mic up :(. Ran out of daylight I’ll pull it back out and hook that up and possible hook the hdmi up as well. All odb stuff works.
