Good Morning. Had some starting problems. In June, went to the store, when I came out the truck wouldn't start. Tried jumping it. Nothing. Replaced the battery. Ok.
This past weekend went out of town.. The truck sat for two days and when I tried to start it Sunday morning it wouldn't turnover. There wasn't enough battery power to lower the windows.
I was able to jump it this time, however. Anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening? It has less than 28K miles. Thanks

Sounds typical of a marginal battery. When you replaced it before did you drive it much or did the truck sit? It may not have had a full charge, even if it was new. And new batteries can have a bad cell or other issue. Have you done any mods to lights, electrical or stereo system? Have you tested the battery or alternator charging?

    Battery connections tight?

Did you check the voltage on batt when all it would do is roll windows down?

    Anyone check alternator charging rate?

If all above are good, then an electrical vampire exists, which can be tested for also to narrow the culprit down.

    Luck.

Potentially bad or failing alternator. Essentially replacing the battery will work momentarily, but if the alternator is not working it will run power from the battery only until it dies, which wont take long.

If you have a voltmeter measure the battery voltage, if its below 12.4v it is already starting to discharge. Current while running should measure between the high 13v to 14v range, if the alternator is working.

What kind of battery did you put in? The OEM batteries are notorious for premature failure. If you see 13.5 volts or more when the truck is running my bet is another bad battery.

Were having the same issue on a 2017 Sequoia. Its showing good charge to battery and cannot find anything draining the battery when vehicle is off. 3 hr drive on Saturday and would barely crank this morning.

Interstate battery 11 months old. Hoping its just a bad battery. Getting pretty cold to replace and alternator without a heated shop

Parasitic current loss can be difficult to diagnose and cure. A neighbor traded off a Sequoia because his mechanic could not solve this issue for him.
A trek to an automotive electrical shop may be in your future if you've first done everything possible to find a remedy.
This could be caused by a myriad of things gone wrong.

Trade off sounds fun, but would have to wait for the redesign and I would probably choke on what the msrp will be.

We're taking battery to get tested and start there, all connections were good so fingers crossed its the battery.

Toyota OEM batteries blow. Average life is about 24 months. If your 2017 battery survived until now, buy a lottery ticket.

Current replacement batteries can also blow. Cheap is not a good criteria for replacement battery shopping. Spend $400 for a Northstar AGM, keep it on CTek smart charger when not driving, and you'll be able to forget about battery problems for many years.

I haven't done any electrical mods. I'll go get the battery tested and see what happens

We had our 11 month old Interstate checked and after a 3 hr drive and it sitting 1 day it was down to 340 cold cranking amps. Its suppose to be around 700. And was showing 40 %.

Interstate exchanged with a new battery. Guess we will wait a few days and see if it drains down.
