Edit:Video footage show US marines testing a remote controlled machine gun Toyota pick up truck. The Marines worked together with military contractors with the Naval Surface Warfare Center to help test and give reviews on the new military equipment being designed. The equipment ranged from reconnaissance drones, self-controlled armored vehicles and armed remote-controlled vehicles. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Mark Fike)

A fun PR project for some Marines, but that thin-skinned Tacoma "Technical" is really vulnerable for an armed forward scouting mission.

If the enemy is encountered in those woods, the Tacoma and that powerful, long-range gun mount would be an expensive asset disabled before the operator even saw the enemy. In limited visibility like that setting, the obvious choice would be an unarmed, remote-controlled ATV. It could cover ground fast, and be more valuable for reconnaissance in those woods than a truck. if you lose that asset, it's expendable. :notsure:

The Marines don't need that to get the job done.

What's the largest tire they can fit on their new RC TACO?

Israel used a similar RC machine gun mounted inside a car to take out Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, it worked very well.

The definition of assassination is stealth. In that respect, it's like guerilla warfare. Strike fast and hard, and disappear. Hang around to engage a well-armed military unit, and you'll be destroyed. The Marines have this disposable device on the wrong side of the equation.

It's clearly a "proof of concept" only. If it did ever get commissioned for the battlefield all the vitals would be hardened. Takes years of testing anyways. Fun vid though. I wouldn't read into this too much. LOL. The Marines know what they're doing.

The enemy would hear them Devil Dogs "barking" on approach anyway.

That would be a great push button option to have available for people driving slow in the left lane.

If it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed by morning, call the US Marine Corps.

USMC does know what it's doing, and that's why I read this video strictly as a recruiting tool.

Throw that video up on YouTube, and they won't be able to handle all the young recruits wanting to get their hands on the "Rock Warrior" from Hell. Has a fire control system suitable for destroying targets miles away, on a vehicle highly vulnerable to a single 50 yard rifle shot. Nah...oxymoron. Makes only a little more sense on an armored Humvee; that is one hella valuable gun mount.

Agree. Show boating a concept only.
Live ammo would shake, rattle and roll that little Tacoma.
