It is the "I'm bigger so I'm going attitude". My belief is that if someone driving a car/truck has never rode a motorcycle they simply just don't see or care about you. I've been run off the road and passed as if I was never there. Scary to be on a bike these days with the exorbitant amount of clueless day-dream drivers on the road. When I'm in my truck, and there's a bike in front of me, I always slow and give extra space, just because I know what it feels like when some douchebag thinks 3" from your tailpipe is a safe distance.

Also, in many european countries, if a pedestrian is on the sidewalk, at a crossing, you must always stop to allow them to cross. It is very easy for the dipshit pedestrian to abuse this by just walking out and "expecting" the car will stop.

Don't blame the kids blame the parents on how they raise kids now a days. The crap I see now, talking back to their parents, entitlement, rudeness to workers and common sense wouldn't of fly when I was growing up. If my dad saw my dumbass walk across a street and act a fool, he would of snatched my ass up real quick and get a whooping.

I think once you reach a certain age, which differs from one person to another, two things happen.

    1. You realize you don't know as much as you once thought.
    2. Several times a day you see something and say to yourself "I don't get it."

Oh, and a distant third, they trim your eyebrows.

I'll play devil's advocate too. As an avid runner, I can't tell you the number of inattentive drivers that have taken a right on red out of a stop sign/red light right in front of me while only ever looking left. Right on reds scare me much, much more than most red light/green light crosswalks do because drivers are much less predictable with them. Often times me making eye contact and nodding at a driver is so that they acknowledge my presence for my own safety, not to try to give/take right of way (which I have regardless, as cars are required by law to yield to pedestrians in most states).

The reality is, there are inattentive people everywhere & there are rude people everywhere. The only thing you can control is how you react to them.

Happens to me all the time, people only look to the left while at a stop sign when trying to merge onto the street. I've been almost ran over at least 4 times while running, both during the day and/or night.
