Unless I owned a Prius with a turret mounted GAU. Outside of that, my box of fuxxs is pretty empty.

 

I am 1000% on board with all of this, including the back and hip pain! Had a black truck and a black car. It is impossible to keep it looking good unless you are really dedicated. Almost nothing looks as good as black on most vehicles though. Shined up right it is just so damn sexy.

My temptation toward this color from the Cavalry Blue (which I still adore) is due to the fact that minor scratches show up as little white highlights on it. It's an irritant to be sure, but the only way I'd consider swapping would be if it didn't cost me anything. With my truck having just broke 19K miles, I don't see how I could get into a Windchill Pearl truck without an increase in debt. I'll just love the Tundra I have, and live vicariously through your experiences with the pearly one.

 

A good paint correction should take care of the swirls/scratches if you haven't done so already. Its well worth it and you would be surprised how effective it can be bringing shine to paint, even with defects. Wax/Seal/Coat is about ~10-20% of the shine. Corrections are the foundation.

White paint can get pretty popping but strong lighting can blur out the profile and depth. Pearlesent/metallic whites look great during the day and at night, even in intense light. The "color shifting" helps break up the blur. Windchill should look really great on the inbound Tundra's new body lines. I think the Lexus Atomic Silver color will also look good on the new styling. Its like a smoked silver color and looks great on my neighbor's Lexus SUV. I hate silvers but this color makes the angles pop nice and crisp.

I'm still looking for a magic car maintenance stack to give white more depth, sheen is easy to get with the right toppers. I'll have to look through some of Apex Detail's recommendations.

 

Yup, true. I'm not a detailer though. I have no indoor space to work on the truck, no experience, no tools, etc. I will likely take the truck to a detail shop for paint correction and protection. Topic for another thread, though.

Had that color been available to me in 2018 I would have had a tough decision. Any color with that much metallic in it is going to glow in the sunlight. Awesome truck, Congrats!

I need something to break up the color on the sides since I took the platinum badges off. I definitely plan to change the handles to black, just sucks that it’s $400.00 for the Platinum ones.

I do still have some black Tundra emblems in stock, but not sure I want to put those on. Pain to clean around the letters.

One thing I’ll say is it’s pretty great not having to clean it constantly. We’ve had some crappy weather lately. It needs cleaning, but it’s not terribly in need of it. Still getting used to not having to at least grab some detail spray as soon as I get home every day.

A platinum pro build would be what I do next. I love the creature comforts of the platinum. Once the handles get swapped that truck is really gonna start coming together. I have had a ton of black vehicles but after some time I don’t miss them. My fj is yellow and I wouldn’t do that again either. White is the best option for me because of the heat alone.
