I have a 13, DC, 8' bed, stock suspension and ride height, rock warrior rims with LT285 70 R17 load E discoverer AT3 XLTs. I tow a toy hauler with (~6-7k loaded) for whatever that is worth and some day I might air bags or RAS. I do go off road, mainly forest service roads, but not really wheeling with it. Just getting to the destination. I have a DB for the rough stuff.

Its time to replace the shocks and struts/coilovers (call em what you want, front shocks) due to wear. I have read comments about folks claiming you should run heavier duty shocks/struts when running heavier tires. I am used to 3/4 tons where that hasnt been an issue so I am not really sure what I should be looking for when they say heavier duty. Can someone expound on this?

Personally I am looking for a near stock ride while staying in control for what I do and I am toying with the idea of raising the front 1"-2" to level out the stance abit. Not critical more interested in getting the right shocks/struts on here, but figure if I am in there anyways I might give it a bump. From the research I have done either stock or 5100's probably fit the bill for ride quality for me. What does the forum recommend for this application?

Oh and truck has 122k miles and spent its life up to 100k as an oil field truck. Should I replace front springs as well or just the struts? Thanks

Did you want to keep the stock height?

I would be okay with stock, but I am considering raising it 1-2" in the front to level it out a bit and gain a little more ground clearance. That is only if its worth it. I am still reading up on the pros and cons.
