A quick search showed a few sites in OK you could sell through. As most have mentioned that's your best bet to get top dollar. I have done a few deals here in TX. I have only walked from two of them because they didn't feel right. Trust your gut, meet someplace public, well lighted and count the money. I mentioned the well lighted because my son got scammed with some fake bills. He met the guy in a dark parking lot and didn't notice until the guy was gone. (not a gun deal)

Meet at a local police station parking lot. As long as the deal is legal, the location will keep most honest. High likelihood of scaring off any with ill intent.

I've bought a sold a few firearms on Texas Gun Trader, but it is literally like using craigslist.
Not sure if OK has any sites like that.
Had to sift through the flakes, lowballers, and no shows.
Had one guy ask to lower the price while driving to the meet.
I told him get ***ed and turned around went back home.
Sold it to someone else a day later.
But I've also driven 120 miles for meet and got a few deals buying and selling.
I use a generic Bill of Sale and only sell to buyers that have a Texas LTC.

I've also bought and sold on Gun broker.
If you sell out of state you'll need to find an FFL to ship the firearm to the buyer's FFL.
Although some FFL will take firearms shipped from an induvial, many do not.
For an individual to ship a gun it is supposed to overnight and that gets expensive.
An FFL can ship it cheaper, but of course they will charge a transfer fee.

Ask coworkers or family members if they would interested in buying it.
Sold my SIL one of my Glocks last year and sold one of my Sig P239s to a coworker several years ago.

If you were closer to me I'd buy it.
But being in a different state, you'd have to ship it an FFL in Texas.

Who in the hell would be stupid enough to have a buyer come to their home for a meet?

I buy and sell direct a lot. Although the only requirement in my state is that the buyer is a Utah resident and affirms that they are not a restricted person, the common practice is to insist on seeing a CCW permit and to have them sign a bill of sale.

It looks like the law in OK is very similar to UT. Consignment options or online options are going to rob you - go with a private sale, meet in a safe place during the day to make the sale, and get a bill of sale. Here is a Bill of Sale you can print and use that will prompt you to collect all of the needed info.

Probably 50% of my firearms were acquired via private sales... And I've sold several this way too. I did walk away from a buyer one time - we met in a Cabela's parking lot and he was getting testy when I was asking to see his CCW and have him sign a bill of sale. He did finally agree to both, but by that time I had a bad feeling about the guy and walked.

WA and OR both require BGC/FFL transfer now so have to meet at an FFL, but many states (OK included) only require meeting federal requirements, which are that the buyer and seller are residents of same state (unless transferred through an FFL in the buyer’s state of residence) and the buyer is not a prohibited person. So check the driver’s license to confirm (usually) state of residence, and most sellers (myself included before we were required to use FFL for all transfers) will require the CPL/CWP to confirm that at least at SOME point in the past few years, the buyer passed a BGC and isn’t a prohibited person.

Bill of sale isn’t required, but it does provide you with a paper trail if you purchased it from an FFL and if the gun is ever used in a crime and traced to you (rare) - you’ve got something to show them to let them keep following the trail of breadcrumbs.

I've refused to sell to someone if they insisted on a bill of sale and I've refused to purchase for the same reason. Show them or let them copy my ID ? Not in this lifetime.
Not everyone who does so is a criminal.
In my case I'm not legally required by law to do either, so I won't.

OP- you should be able to get 600 for that without much effort

I'm not claiming everyone who refuses to show ID or sign a bill of sale is a criminal. Im saying that their refusal to do so increases the likelihood that they are a restricted person and I won't sell to them. :D

I'm a kitchen table FFL in NY and I've bought and sold on Armslist. Be careful and you'll be fine, everything sells easy these days.

    .

A local PD division here has a designated buy/sell location.

No one will come in my home to buy anything.

We are Constitutional Carry so no carry license is required, although some still get them for reciprocity, training, etc.

Local PD here have the same. I've always just met in a populated place such as the parking lot of a sporting goods store. If you feel more comfortable at the police station, by all means.

I believe there are still benefits to earning and having a valid CCW. For example, in OK, being able to carry in locations that are prohibited under your current constitutional carry laws.

Agreed. I don't carry on my person, but if I did I would obtain a permit.

I’ve bought some and sold some with a BOS and without a BOS (again, prior to the current BGC/FFL requirement). I’ve never been on either side of the transaction where a peek at the DL and CWP wasn’t requested and obliged, but then it’s always been something discussed prior to ever meeting up with the person too. :notsure:

I figure I’ve filled out enough 4473’s and Form 4’s and Form 1’s that the “authorities” already have a pretty good guess at what I might have.

    I understood what you meant.

So have I, I was an SOT for over 10yrs, thats not the issue. I prefer to do the minimum required by law, I'm not going to help them to infringe on our constitutional rights any more than I absolutely have to.
One of the awesome things about living in a free state.

Go to gun show walk around with sign on a stick, I've seen this a few times, make your deal in parking lot. Should get it done if price is right.

Thanks, I'll check it out. First look at an online broker was not promising. I'm looking for the best way to get the best price. I'm in no huge hurry. From the responses, it sounds like a gun show or local forum is my best bet. I looked at a couple of local forums and they pretty much sucked. And it's not like Oklahomans don't like guns.

Kimber makes a great gun. My Kimber 1911 is probably my favorite gun I have to shoot. One of the most expensive to shoot though.

The Micro 9s have some issues. Mine has been back to Kimber twice for various issues. The last time they said they replaced the ejector with a new design, so it sounds like hopefully they have solved the issues related to that. A trip to the range after getting it back this last time was encouraging.

It’s not just the Micro 9. The shorter the barrel, the less reliable the 1911 tends to be.

Off topic of the Micro 9... Is anyone selling a Marlin 336 or 1894/1895? Because I'm in the market.

Heck are we violating any tundra forum rules if we have a Buy/Sell thread on here for bang bang toys?

I changed the thread title so it was clearer that I was asking how members sell vs. selling my gun.
