Does he work with tools or just wants to be able to carry stuff in general?

Weatherguard is probably the best readily available brand and they are uniformly excellent across the line.

There are many others too though and a little more info about his needs will help give better advice.

Both. Has a garage full of tools, and used to be a mechanic. Does a lot of work at his parents and friends houses so always bringing tools around with him. Used to have a Jeep and put them in the back of that, but a nice heavy duty tool box is ideal now. I’ll definitely look into weatherguard. Thanks!!

I got a weatherguard shortly after buying my truck in january. I did a lot of reading and they are some of if not the best. What sold it for me is that the Weatherguard have actual D shaped rubber seals around the lid instead of just foam like a lot of less expensive brands

I agree. Can’t go wrong with Weatherguard. I have personally used several different models over the years. All were well built and secure.

Does he care about looks? If so, I’d look at a UWS low profile box. Very nice looking and well built. Weather guard makes a great box but they aren’t very low profile and have an industrial look to them. Just my $.02

I have a small UWS for my trailer sewer gear. It's a good box for the price; average quality. But I wouldn't trust the lock mechanism. I'd go with that if price was a concern.

I also own a Weatherguard (my 2nd actually) and highly recommend them. The craftsmanship is amazing, the designs are solid and the locking mechanisms are as smooth as they come.

    Really?
Unless by Industrial you mean looks like the highest quality build?

I cant imagine anyone who appreciates quality not loving one of these as a gift.

Maybe specify the diamond plate version? Maybe it’s just me but the box above looks like it belongs on a commercial truck and not a tundra

Does he have a cover on his truck? Does he frequently need the full bed for hauling bulky items? A big weatherguard box might not be the right choice.

While I would love it if my wife surprised me with a truck themed gift, I hope she'd talk to a close friend as well as this excellent group of strangers!

No cover yet. He’s had this truck for one week, but needed it for home projects and helping at his parents and friends. Has lots of tools. That’s all I got so far unfortunately lol does weatherguard have gift cards?

Yes they do gift certs. Their floor mats are pretty good as well and they have quite a few vehicle accessories he might like if you do the gift card.

My mistake not the floor mat people. They do have a bedside though that might be worth a look. Can pack tools into totes and use the slide to access the totes. Then if you need the full bed you just remove the totes.

A Decked system might be worth a look as well.
