Issues you have no problem not fixing.

I've had my Tundra for a little over three years and the wiper fluid level sensor has never worked. The wiper fluid light has been on for the past three years, or longer. I just ordered a new sensor and it got me wondering if anyone else has a lingering issue that you don't have any problems not fixing. I'm generally pretty OCD, but this one never bothered me.

 

There's a wiper fluid light?? Man, the things I learn here...

 

I learned this the other day while driving, used my washers to clean off bug guts then the light kept going on and off when going up or down hills. I eventually got sick of that and pulled over to pour some water in the reservoir to turn it off.

Mine personally is my loose dash vents. I just put a chunk of paper or allen wrench in there to keep em' pointed!

 

I had a bad rear wheel bearing for about 6 years and went about a year with a CEL due to bad front o2.

Wheel bearing noise wasn’t too bad for the 6 years but then it went next level and I fixed it right away. The o2 was fixed when in the shop for some fluid maintenance and said go ahead.

Not many problems over the years so I’m thankful for this. Most everything I’m doing is restomod stuff. Either making it better or optimizing it to like new.

 

Vents are tight on mine, but on others I've used a little wad of double-sided tape and wedged it in there.
P.S. I'm a little OCD, myself, so no worries. I am learning how to leave well enough alone...sometimes.

 

Sure is. I’ve been staring it it for, literally, years.

 

The wiper fluid in my work vehicle misses my windshield and shoots over the top of my van. The windshield only gets a mist. I don't mind because it gets tailgaters off of my ass when I use it. It's funny looking into my mirror and see them using their wipers constantly until they back off or pass.

 

I've only been driving my Tundra for a month or so, so I cant say I've been putting up with anything for a long time, however On my Volt, the back up camera stopped working last winter and I haven't even looked into the problem. There's always next weekend...

 

The D light on my dashboard has been out since probably 2012. Never gonna fix it.

 

Shortly after I got my truck I had to get a new battery. Afterward, the SRS light came on, and it's been on ever since. Later I had the airbag recall performed, but the light stayed on. The stealer wanted $200 to run the diagnostics so I politely refused. Of course they'd already run the diagnostics before and after the airbag swap. The service tech later told me that the squib circuit (spiral cable) was open. I thought this to be odd because the guy I bought the truck from had just replaced it to get past inspection before selling it to me (he handed me the old one, which I still have). Horn/Cruise Control work fine. I recently got my Techstream working. The scan said...open squib circuit. The FSM process to diagnose/resolve the issue seems to be a PITA, so I may try the black electrical tape fix.

Humorous anecdote: I bought my 1998 Land Cruiser in 2000 as a Certified Preowned vehicle from the Toyota Dealer (and I paid a small fortune for it!). They proudly boasted of the 130 point check list used to certify the vehicle. In the dark of the garage my wife notices on the instrument cluster a small black square with a glowing red halo. I guess "checking to see if the seat belt light is covered with black tape" is not on their 130 point checklist...

 

Creaking dash with popping noises. I just turn up the Kenwood.

 

D is for Darkness....which that light is...it’s, dark.

I’m not leaving.

 

The D was out on my truck for a while. I swapped the L light to it's place so now the L light doesn't work.

The only real issue is my ABS light. It's on because I pulled the fuses because I was getting false ABS activation. It's most likely something wrong with the tone ring and I have zero plans of replacing it, as I think it would be expensive.

Aside from that everything works correctly on my truck which is more than most 19 year old vehicle owners can claim.

Exactly why I have this truck. Sure there are bigger, more powerful and prettier trucks out there but I cannot afford to maintain them.

 

My 07 didn't have TPMS's. I ignored the flashing TPMS light for almost 5 years.

When I was chasing down an electrical gremlin that turned out ot be a bad cell in the battery, I unplugged the DVD player and never plugged it back in. May not ever do it.

 

How quickly those in vehicle entertainment systems have become ho-hum. If I still lived in NY I would still invest in a video system so I could watch tv when I'm stuck in traffic. I found that I don't need it so much in florida

The 2nd owner I bought it from said he never used it and the original owner was my age so he didn't think he ever used it, either. The next owner can plug it in.

 

I finally took time to bypass or disable the light when I replaced my headunit.

 

An old Aussie saying is ‘She’ll be alright’ was what I’d think about those items. I never knew the wheel bearing problem was the wheel bearing until about 2 years ago in research. All I knew was I had a weird noise rolling through the cabin. Research here got me going in the right direction and then some other sites confirmed. My goofy mechanic identified it right away when he got in the truck last year. Too bad he sucked at the fix.

There was a member here that posted up a video with the noise and it was EXACTLY the same sound I lived with.

The truck hasn’t broken down on me, yet. I just have focused my energy and time that used to be on other things into the truck these past 2 years. She is fighting shape again. Might not have to do anything again for another 15 years.

 

Funny, the washer fluid light on my 03 is in the bottom left of my cluster. Mine came on while I was in the middle of my washer bottle relocation, but went off once I finished and filled it up.
I'm in no hurry to replace the "D" light on my cluster either.

 

Mine is always on. I just ignore it

 

My check engine light is on. Always has been for P0420. I tried to fix it by changing the upstream, and downstream 02 sensors.

Didn't fix it, and don't feel like changing the catalytic converter yet. I leave the light on.

Shift solenoid E code. Can't remember the code. This one worries me a little, but my truck drives fine. That code has been there since the new transmission in 2007-9-ish? Memory is fuzzy.

 

Mine trips a CEL after I fill it up and only when the temp is above 50°.

Something related to the EVAP vent/purge not worth the $75 for the valve to repair in my thoughts for something that doesn't affect drivability.

That is so wrong! Really!? Electrical tape to cover up. Not surprised but that is the worst.

 

I have a loud intermittent rattle at start up that I have been listening to for the six months I have had the truck. It goes away once Blueberry is warmed up, and I had the dealer look at it once and they couldn't figure it out without me dropping her off for a couple days. I hate rentals, but will probably wait until after winter and drop her off to see if they can figure out where it is coming from. If they cannot fix it, I will live with it since its only at start up.
