I still don’t understand why they won’t make a small displacement TT V8...

the number of cylinders above 6 doesn’t matter when you can have a twin turbo (low and high rpm’s) with an electric motor and tuning.

Go drive an ecoboost. Thank me later.

tow/haul raises the rpm points and quicker shifts. It doesn’t make up for elevation and an underpowered heavy truck.

I’m 31, and I don’t really get the sound thing. Try putting a DD exhaust on your truck and you’ll wish it was silent.

the classic Toyota loud fan sound is not my cup of tea either, which has plagued every Toyota truck or suv since I was a kid.

the future is silent. Peaceful. I hate hearing loud trucks and Honda’s blast their rattle cans.

they don’t sound great, that’s for sure! But I don’t care about how a truck sounds. I care about how it performs.

A used Tundra then adding a supercharger is still cheaper that buying a brand new eco boost

Why don't you look at how many V8s GM sells? Ford sells lots of 3.5EBs because it beats the 5.0 on everything except maybe reliability. How would the numbers look if the opposite was true?

Even GM sees that consumers want smaller displacement V6TT. The new 2.7TT for example.
    • 310 HP
    • 348 lb.-ft. torque
    • 6,800 lbs. max. towing
    • 2,260 lbs. max. payload
    • Up to 20 city/23 hwy MPG
It's inevitable that the V8 will die and will be replaced by more efficient smaller displacement hybrid engines. The next step will be the full electric trucks. Change happens whether we like it or not and that's a good thing.

All I know is that my cousin has a sweet F150 Platinum w/ TT V6.

Being typical men, we (he) talked chit about how sweet his truck is. (which it is) and he could take me. He had stock 20" tires/rims and I had the current set up listed below.

We decide to go at it. Roll on starts, he did pull away first, BUT I quickly passed him. Next was a stop light start. All I know is that I smoked my 35" and he was at my 6:00.

    End of Story!

note* no animals were hurt while we were having a little fun. ;)

For every guy who wants that 4 cylinder 2.7TT, there's at least one guy who wants the 6.2.

    Maybe even 2 6.2 buyers to 1 2.7TT.
I am not an anti turbo guy, but a 4 cylinder TT in a full sized truck is way too much strain on the internals. I think that the V6TT is probably the sweet spot until full electric

Well technically the 6.2 is not a V8 all the time. :D

It was speculated that they would release one before the news was released that they killed the V8 plant. I'm not sure they have a TTV8 in their worldwide Lexus/Toyota lineup.

They should make a special edition. Hell, charge more for it if you want. Take any of their V8’s and TT them. The 4.6, 5.0, or 5.7

If FCA can put a hellcat engine in just about everything and people buy them, Toyota would have no problem selling a few TT V8 tundras

Everyone says they want a 700hp truck but in reality few buy them. The TRX is around 90K and 11mpg. I couldn't imagine a conservative company like Toyota sticking their neck out like that.

Plenty of people buy them. I think most all TRX are sold out and Ford has sold a ton of raptors. I agree though, Toyota is a fairly boring company that has lost all automotive passion and enthusiasm.

I thought the current CEO wanted to bring some of the passion and racing spirit back. You can debate how well they achieved that with the new Supra but there were rumours of a new MR2 on the way as well.
