Anyone know if the pillar will have to be replaced. A buddy of mine said done correctly would end up running 10k min low end.

When I was a teenager I T-boned a pickup in the same spot, I was told that’s one of the most expensive places to hit a truck. I can’t answer your question but I hope I’m wrong.

My buddy said. The pillar has to be cut and replaced. Bed has to be replaced also. Mirror is trashed also. Meaning all windows and interior have to be removed for the correct work and painting to take place.

That's a TON of work. With that amount of work, I'd rather the vehicle get written off. Probably not likely, though, given how the truck's only a couple years old.

Pillar will for sure need a cut and swap, but its an external cut, not a support frame cut. Luckily the bed is just a bedside. Mirrors are about 250-300 and come prepainted, I lost mine the same way. Took about 30 mins to replace myself, neither window nor interior trim needed to be pulled with the exception of the sail panel that takes 30 seconds to pop out. Aside from that the body shop will replace the one door and they will have to remove the rear seat and trim on the corner.

Not really, the mirror will be between 2-300, the door about 500. The box will either be a full swap or a cut and weld job. One option will probably be about 1-2k with a used part, the other will be less. Paint will be a couple be between 1-2k. Its nowhere near enough to total it, which in a way, sucks.

No promises, thats where a good shop or adjuster works their magic. But, no based of the location and depth, it doesnt appear too bad. I had similar and the shop seemed unfazed by it.

For the mirror its attached with 3 nuts and a harness, just pop the sail panel off and unbolt. Easier with two people but I did mine myself quickly.

    IMG_1290.jpg

Panel off for speaker swap, but you can see 2 of the bolts for the mirror in the top left.

Not sure if your mirror has a chrome cap, those are for the Cavalry Blue painted ones.

Yeah trade in or resale value is going to take a hit, not to add insult to injury. I was hit in my Tacoma, and it cost 7500 to fix, and was listed on Carfax as a serious impact, even though the actual hit wasn't bad, it was just a lot of plastic and one painted panel. Oh well. Such is life. Good luck.

I'm assuming the lady was at fault and she had insurance. If so go for diminished loss value too. Still suxs though.

Its minor damage, keep the estimate and when you go to sale it show it to the potential buyer if they even ask for it.

When you work with the adjuster it will be for primary damage.....but, don't forget to argue for your "diminished value" that resulted, i.e. Carfax for resale.
