Our issue is the previous owner built big insulated garage ... on a completely flat slab with no drainage - brilliant! WTF was he thinking? :frusty:

Containment mats are a workable solution through Winters here ... cheaper than a $10k tear-out and re-pour of a new garage floor with a drain/catch basin.

It is very important to me to shelter the vehicles, even a carport is better than nothing. But being in the PNW moss grows everywhere, pollen in the seals etc. We have a 2007 Mazda and the neighbor thought it was new..

Not to mention not having to battle the elements when coming and going.

If I have a garage it's for the vehicles...

Yes, I believe it’s much better. Once it’s set and you have a mark on your vehicle it will never change. What I like is there is no hanging tennis balls, 2x4s being tripping hazards etc. it’s motion activated. I set mine on the ball of the center speaker of my dash but you can utilize anything. This is the one I purchased and it’s been 100 percent reliable for 4 years.

Everyone has different ideas on this subject, but in my case, if it doesn’t fit then it isn’t coming home

It's possible I suppose, but I'd think if you're driving daily it shouldn't be much of an issue. I've never heard of anyone having a problem.

This is almost my dream garage. Boat, truck, car. Just need it attached to the house so I don't have to freeze my ass off at -40 getting out there. Of course, a 40x50ft shop in the back yard is also a requirement...

I guess you keep your quads, sleds and project car(s) in the shop?

I currently have none of the above, but that's the dream. LOL. My big shop would have a side access bay door with a divided off section for the quads and sleds. The main part of the shop would be set up for projects and maintenance work, complete with welder, plasma cutter, 4 post lift and carpentry stuff. I might have to go bigger than 40x50 now that I think about it...

Just need to win that lottery.

Yeah, pretty much. I keep wondering why my aunt had to divorce her husband before he could give me some of his guns (only other lefty in the family), some of his toys and one of his Mustangs.

My thoughts exactly, if there were expensive toys in the garage then yes, leave the Tundra out, based on my observations, most people treat their garage like a big dumpster and leave a 50k truck/car outside??

We don't currently have a garage so it's always been parked outside, as all my vehicles have unless they got a temporary spot under the car port. Just went under contract on a new house with a garage. My truck will barely fit in it just because the door is narrow. I still don't plan to park in there anyway. I have manly stuff to do in that area. Tools and mowers and stuff. Man work.

My wife will garage her Explorer purely because she hates cold weather.

Simple but effective. I trashed a plastic/rubber version of this thing and duplicated it out of some scrap stainless steel at the sheet metal factory where I was working at the time.
Works pretty well ~ I'm not a fan of the tennis ball ~ maybe the laser would work, too.

I know the other poster is happy with the laser, I just tossed mine last week.

you have to be mind full to not turn the wheel once you are in it

took my wife a couple times once she had a reference point in the garage she hits it every time. Told her pull up once you go over the first bump put the car in neutral it rocks into place slam it it park.

After the first week of owning her new Lexus and shutting the door on the bumper it’s a must have now

Usually just my truck and wife's car in the garage, along with all my tools and fishing gear. Exception is when hurricanes are blowing through, my daughters car comes in as well.

I use a 4 x 4 bolted to the floor to keep me from bumping the wall. Have about 2" on either end to spare.

My home has two separate garage doors, so they're too narrow for the truck w/o manually folding both mirrors. I got the truck in a few months ago before a big storm, but there's really not enough room for anything else.

The next house will have a big garage with a single door and no posts in the middle. I'm done playing in the weather to get to my truck.

No, I haven't done a search but this question isn't off topic. . . Anyone know the total length of a 3rd gen crewman? I haven't got around to pulling a tape and need to clean out my garage but I'm not so sure it'll fit anyway

I think it's 229". I measured my garage at 231" but my truck doesn't fit because I have to go in at an angle to avoid the steps.

It was a must when purchasing my truck. It fits but man its a pain in the ass. I live in condo complex and you have to do a 3-4 point turn just to get the into the garage and I have 2 inches on either side.

Think that measurement is dead on. MY 20' garage is actually 19. . So the hitch comes out and it MAY fit

Important to me, but they build the world's shallowest garages here in FL. Mine is like only like 19' deep, so I couldn't put a truck in there if I wanted to. I can and have shoehorned two passenger cars in there, but it's tight. For the moment, I just leave my Audi in there since it isn't a daily. My next house WILL be able to accommodate a full size truck. I hate leaving them outside in the FL sun - that thing destroys everything given enough time.

My garage is listed as 22x20 but, like yours it's 19' inside. I guess if you could pull straight in, it might fit.

I can pull straight in. . Bit even if it fits, I hate that its a matter of an inch between me, a wall and a door.

Yardbird is 110% correct. You spend tens of thousands of $$$ on your vehicle, then leave it outside to store Junk that's probably not worth a whole lot- in most cases. My '16 fits great-about an inch on each end!! But it fits.
