Check the build link in my signature.
If I had held onto my 2008, that front end would have been my next mod. Looks pretty sweet.

I want to like it, but feel like there is too much of a disparity in the fitment of the upper/lower bumpers. Maybe its the camera angle, but it looks off and not centered L/R. The colors and overall setup is nice.

details on your lightbar mount? have the same light, was thinking a cheap DIY home depot mount to the bumper frame.

You’re right, those different angles around the bend into the fenders is the crux of this project. Using bumper spacers I was able to lessen the noticeable aspects of it. Having a black truck really makes it unnoticeable unless you’re staring at a pic of it or have your face up to my truck. Luckily for me, people only get to see my truck flying around Denver at high rates of speed and it’s much better than the chrome was.

I made the mistake of buying an $80 mount from Rago. Should have just used a simple “L” bracket from Home Depot, because in the end, that’s what I had to make the Rago bracket into. Using an L bracket you can just attach it to the aluminum bumper behind the plastic. Go that route.

Yes. 6 layers of black plastidip and 1 or 2 coats of copper metalizer over that.

Put it all together for just under a grand. Scored the new bumper for $50 on Craigslist (had it painted for $100) and the headlights for $400 (junkyard in NE) so those deals helped keep this on the cheaper end of things...

Looks awesome! I have the same front bumper swap, with the same mismatch that bothers me. Nice score on the headlights, I'll have to keep an eye out.

Do you need any additional brackets/hardware to make the swap? I've been looking to change the ugly chrome one I have on my Tundra but no luck finding used ones. Thanks

Did the 2.5 Gen bumper bolt directly to your 2nd Gen without any shims, spacers or other mods?

Supposedly you need to basically do a 1/2” spacer for better alignment but I can’t find too much detail… I looked at this starting last year but haven’t looked deeper till yesterday and today. Had someone back into my bumper while my truck was getting an inspection and already had a rust spot in the chrome… So now I “need” to find answers… Also trying to figure out how cheap I can source stuff…

Those Sequoia lights look so good on these. I like the bumper too but I’m afraid it would drive me nuts trying to make them match up.
