I took out my front center seat and put in an OEM console.
Center seat will be getting sold soon.
One of these center headrests is for the front seat and one is for the rear seat.
Which one is for the FRONT seat?
    #1 or #2......

Wait. Maybe not. This is the back seat image of a truck.

Thanks for the reply's and photo's.
The above photo's show #2 as the front headrest. Right?

I did a ton of googling but did NOT come up with anything definitive.

They can be interchanged but Toyota made them different for some reason, which isn't clear when I installed them and then swapped them.

I believe #1 goes in the back. It has a flatter/lower top so it blocks less rearward visibility.

It would appear, to me, that the middle seat headrest is different in a double cab.

I pulled my center rear and put it in the garage.
Better visibility in the rear view mirror, and no one sits in my rear seat anyway..

#1 is definitely the front, #2 is the rear

Well today I tried fit testing them again and realized that even though both will fit in either location, #2 fits easier/better in the rear.
When I tried #1 in the back, it was firmly up against the back window glass trying to get the metal bars started into the two holes, making for a tight fit initially. When you look at specimen #2, with the metal bars vertical, the headrest leans frontward and thus it doesn't scrape the back window at all.
So this test fit suggests #1 is for the front. And I think a majority of the votes said #1 for the front.
I realize even more now the headrests may be different by year, truck model, leather/cloth and trim level.

Now, some of you are probably thinking who the hell cares! And I'm ok if you say that.
I only really care because I'm selling the front center seat (any takers pm me?).
I normally keep all the rear headrests in the garage for the improved rear view.
Thanks to those who offered help.
