Are the 2020 Tundras reliable?

Had to jump my truck today. Dad was hearing music for 10 minutes he didn't have the truck on. the key was just on the ignition.

 

Did someone accidentally hit the push start? It will turn on the electronics without starting the car. I am wondering if that happened and drained the battery

 

There is no way the battery will drain in 10 mins

Stock batteries are weak in Toyotas and Subarus. Early failures are not uncommon.

 

Factory Batteries have low quality.
I left a door open overnight and the battery was dead next day. There is a timer that turns the interior lights off I think after 10-20 minutes but the battery still died.
However, for me it will take a lot more than a $120 battery to say the truck is unreliable.

 

Agree with this... Batteries are shit, and if you leave anything running longer than 5 minutes than it will be dead... I was running an auto vacuum cleaner while it was on ACC, had only done the back seat when the radio cut out, Thought it was my kid when it dawned on me, tried to turn it on and the battery was gone...

 

I guess I'll be using my battery pack to run my tire pump wherever I get around to pumping up my new winter tires.

Toyota batteries have never been known for long life or quality.

My wifes 2016 4runner (purchased new) was starting to crank slowly recently. Load tested it and it failed... so I replaced it with an Autozone Platinum battery.

Obviously a 2020 battery failure is unusual and should be covered under warranty if is wasn't just an oddball occurrence from leaving dome lights or radio on.

It may also be an alternator problem... not charging the battery.

 

2020 Tundras are poor quality and unreliable. You should probably sell it.

 

I dunno about that. In 2011 I bought a 2000 4Runner with the *original* battery. Sold it in 2013 to buy a truck...still had the original battery.

I recently checked with the new owner. It STILL has the original battery.

 

Agree 100%. Maybe the batteries in the new ones are not so good, I’ve only had this one for a year and a half. My 2002 original battery I changed out at about the 4 year mark as a precaution but it was still good.

 

I guess it should be clarified that early stock battery failures are not uncommon. That is not to say that they all fail, or that no one has ever had one last more than a year or two. Simply that it happens often enough that no one is surprised when they hear about it.

 

At least we're not having this conversation about transmission temps. . . oh, wait. . .

4 months and about 4,000 miles, so far so good...
Had accessories on for about 30 minutes playing radio with no issue

 

I'd be mad if I was the OP as well. His truck wouldn't start and he missed his elk hunt.

My 2018's battery died mid-test drive when it was brand new. Shortly after leaving the dealer, we had to stop and get gas (HA!). Truck wouldn't restart. Dead battery. I guess my truck had been sitting on the lot for a good long while without being started or moved. Anyway, the dealer installed a new battery before I picked the truck up, and it's been good ever since.
