New to site. Just bought a 2006 Tundra Access Cab with 97K miles (Unicorn). The only thing I am not thrilled about is the seat to floor height. Unlike American 1/2 tons, this riding position has your feet further out in front of you; more like a car or Tacoma/Ranger. Am I the only one who doesn't like this? Has anyone modified Seats to lift them a couple inches? Maybe spacers between rails and seats?

If you moved them a couple inches I could see a problem with headroom.

Maybe for a taller "new" owner but at 5'8" I have some room to spare. Even 1" higher may be enough.

IMO, seems sketchy placing a spacer there. I mean sure it’d probably take a lot of force to sheer a quality bolt if it were in an accident, but not something I’d personally risk. Then again, others have suggested throwing washers under the front of the rails to help with comfort.

Why not just put in a booster seat?:D

I'm 6'3 and haven't noticed that the seat is low, but then again before toyota trucks, I drove a 2wd S-10. The padding may be worn out.

I think a back to back comparison between sitting in a Silverado and Tundra will demonstrate the difference in sitting position. It kinda reminds me of my 2000 Ranger. People complain about the Tacoma for the same reason.
Not a deal breaker by any stretch and a cushion sold on A....N should do the trick without major mods.

I did put a washer under the front bolts to give the pan of the seat more of an angle. The two thick washers effectively raised the front about a 1/4”. Doesn’t seem like much, but thats what she said. :help:

Actually, it makes for a better comfort level. A nestlé feeling.

I could not live with mine either for the same reason and so I got some hard rubber spring spacers, drilled a hole in the center and got some grade 8 bolts to make up the extra length and bolted those bitches in between the seat and tracks in the back.

To make the front work I took small lengths of Strut and Jam Nuts for Strut and raised the front too.

I have over 100K like this on my '01 and will only remove it all i9f I actually sell the truck which does not look likely these days though it was what I have planned too.

I dont have and can not get pics right now but it is a simple fix and when raising the seat a small difference feels huge every time I do this!

I think I have duplicated this 5 or 6 times in different vehicles an nit always freaks me out how much even small differences make in comfort.

Thanks for the input. I knew I couldn't be the only one who had issues with this. I will probably try a pad under a seat cover first and if that doesn't do the trick will bite the bullet and mod it.

Very easy to add a few flat washers under the rear bracket for a little lift. I couldn't find a phone book! Take a look at the 5th and 6th pics in this post for an example... https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...t-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-658#post-1795929

The problem or challenge there is that the fronts are in a different plane than the rears and require different solutions.
So something simple works in the rear but not in the front of the seat.

I used aluminum 1 inch blocks on the two rear mounting bolts of my Ford f150 seats. With my short leg syndrome, it changed the angle of the seat and made it more comfortable.

I raised the back side of the seat about 1.5 inches. I uses like 20 washers on each side. For the bolts, I used 2 M10 1.25 60 mm bolts. I will take pictures when I have time.

I've got an 05 AC with the 60/40 cloth seating and am having the same problem with seat height. The PO was an older heavy set fella and I'm pretty sure it is a breakdown of the seat foam. I compared the 60 to the 40 visually and by actually sitting in each and i'm seeing a 1 to 2 inch difference. I can also tell in my lumbar area if I raise my bod up about 1 or 2 inches I hit my sweet spot. I contacted a Toyo dealer for shits/giggles to price new driver side upper/lower foam. 1 was 200.00 and the other was 300ish. Their system showed 1 upper foam piece and 2 of the lower foam pieces available.......in the countryo_O. Needless to say I'm searching my area for a good upholstery shop. I love my truck...but I loath that damn foam broke cloth seat. Feels like my ass is trapped in memory foam lol. Anybody with upholstery solutions?

Just an FYI, I would upgrade the rear bolts to at least grade 10.9 like your fronts. The rears appear to be 8.8, which is equivalent to standard grade 5 bolts.

While the seating position may be more to your liking, I would be concerned about crash worthiness. The modifications made look they wouldn't survive a major crash.

This country is splitting up into short versus tall seating. We need to eat more veggies to save us!

I have short leg syndrome. Had to do the same with the seat on my Ford. I used aluminum block 1 inch thick to make some spacers for the rear seat bolts.
