    Hi everyone, I hail from the Badger state. Owned 2 F150's, 1 F350 and 1 Gmc 2500. Looking all year and researching GMC, Chevy, Ram and Fords but never ever considered Nissan, Honda or Toyota until my lawn fertilizer dude suggested I check out the Tundra. He knew I was no longer going to plow but would occasionally drag an enclosed trailer pushing 9K-10K. Well two Saturdays ago I pulled the trigger on a (Dare I say across the pond vehicle since 1983)Toyota Tundra dbl cab Limited. I wasn't even aware the Tundra was put together in Texas. I have approximately 400 miles on the clock now and really need to tow some equipment (about 7k in weight) 90 mile round trip. When can I stop babying this 5.7 and put Montys mobile thru the paces?

    @Midnite72 Do you know if these engines are dyno tested prior to building the truck? I do plan on "Giver hell"! Liking the truck more and more everyday.

    Welcome from AZ. I think (if I recall) the manual says 500 miles before towing, close enough.

    @Azblue I never read the instructions until I break it! I've been reading the books in small chunks due to brain capacity issues but haven't run across that part of the manual. Thanks

    Don’t really know the answer to that ?-but as stated by others the 500 mi rule is recommended by Toyota before you put such a LOAD or the truck

    Of course it’s up to personal preference but I would also drain the factory oil and replace filter to get out any possible break-in particles/ junk out and replace with your full-synthetic oil of choice for better piece of mind!
    I did this to my 18’ myself- Toyota won’t change oil till 5-10k depending on if your flex fuel or not- WAY to LONG in my opinion- also tooo many horror stories about dealerships service depts- I do all my own service- only time my truck goes to dealer is for recalls/computer shit I can’t fix !!

    Good luck

    @Midnite72 Totally agree about the oil change interval and dumping the break-in oil soon. I was told 10,000 miles before first oil change WTF? My son has an auto repair facility and we/he never runs any recommended engine oil change interval that long because some customers don't check levels before its time and sometimes the levels are waaaaay too low. Found the 500 mi recommendation in manual last night, what brand synthetic is the popular one? I use mobile1 in my GMC2500. Just curious........

    @Montys Mobile
    I myself and several others around here use
    Mobil 1- extended performance

    Also recommended replacing the factory plastic filter housing with a metal replacement from Toyota- Motive tools drain tool/ hose to drain filter housing before removal makes it a breeze
