What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Yes I’ve done that.. just wish some guru on here would find a way to extend it to a minute or more.

 

I'm not an electrician or wiring expert but I'm assuming it can be done. Reason I think it can be done is bc I have 2 BD squadrons wired into my rear bumper that come on automatically when I shift into reverse. I also have them wired onto a switch on dash that I can turn them on or off at anytime. I'm assuming you can do the same here. Your lights will come on auto when the door is open and off eventually when close, you can then have the switch to power on and off whenever you want besides the auto function tied into the doors.

 

Nice and comfy inside with an adult beverage and don't feel like going out to the truck , What happens with the lights when you have it switched to off?

I'll have to go out and check after a few more, my guess would be that all the lights go out as soon as you close the door?

 

Ok. A lot more miles than me. I'm only at 37k. You're lights have seen a lot more road grime and pitting than mine. But it's good to know that's they'll still look like new after detailing.

 

Thanks, this is definitely the route i want to take. Was trying to avoid adding an additional switch, but i don't think there's any other way.

 

I would like a bit more delay too, but generally sufficient for my purpose. Really like how it makes the truck look. Played around with placement in the rear and spills nicely onto the bar, almost a low key puddle light.

 

Comes wired to plug into existing footwell bulb socket. Delay qould be nice tho...

 

Yep, I have the footwell kit as well. I'll have to pay attention to the ignition ring and the footwell lights and see if they turn off at the same time. They might not be related at all, but was just curious.

Actually, I gave this some more thought...

Rather than connecting the VLED’s to the tiny footwell light, you could connect it a little bit higher into the illumination circuit. This would allow you to turn them on on with the parking lights/dash. The cool thing about this is that you would be able to dim them. However, the bummer is that they would not come on with the door unlock/lock without special additional wiring.

I wired in my door handle lights this way and really like this set up.

 

The answer to this is techstream. I just had this key programmed and while he was in there he turned off the seatbelt chime since I Offroad a lot and I’m in and out of the truck all the time and it gets annoying. I also have 4 kids so rarely am I unlocking just one door. I had it changed to just one click unlocks all 4 doors. I remember seeing some light setting timers in there too. I’d entertain that. It’s a program that hooks up to comp and you usb comp to your obd2 plug. (Whatever it’s called nowadays) and you’re in.

 

what was your process for removing the pinstripe

 

Bought from another user on here and just installed my OEM bed step. Took the "bracket cut" shortcut, and installation was way simple.

Fall is the season to install! Retractable cover (RetraxOne XR) and Rhino Rack vortex crossbars (VA180S with RLT600 mounts). Cheaper than Yakima or Thule and equally spec’d... we’ll see how it proves out for my uses. Very pleased with manufacturing, top-rate instructions and straightforward install. Also bolted on TRD rear sway bar, equally simple.
Only one clumsy skinned knuckle in the whole install! Keep adventuring, Tundra members!

 

Put it n the cargo light circuit. It has a switch.

 

Put some Kings on. It took about an hour, a little less but a bracket was bent in shipping and I had to make it round again.

 

I was thinking the timer as in how the dealer can access the system and change certain options.

Nothing huge but I’m stoked. Put the TRD PRO grill on my 2016. Used the Ares plate cover for the TSS sensor area, looks great and well made!!

 

Curious what other covers you looked at before settling on the Retrax? I had a TruckCovers USA one on my 08 that took a lot of abuse (and had its issues over time), but I've now got a 21 and need something for it. The rails for a rack are a necessity, which narrows it down to only a couple contenders. I've seen a few people have issues with the Retrax over time - the plastic wearing out or something. Would love to hear more.

Have these same bars over my PowertraxOne XR, love them for hauling extra “stuff”!

I’ve had the Retrax Power covers on my last 3 trucks, no issues whatsoever!...I would highly recommend them, I love being able to just hit a button and open/close the cover, and also locking it anywhere along the track!
