Alcohol detection sensor

Dose anybody how this works. Dose it read what’s in the tank or overall though the years how much has been run though the tank?

 

For a flex fuel? I think it reads what's coming through the fuel system because if I remember right when running e85 there is a separate fuel and spark map in the ECU.

 

I'm on my second 7.0% beer, so I came here for the breathalyzer question.

Yeah I didn’t think this had anything to do with flex fuel

 

It is my understanding it adjusts to what % of ethanol is in the tank. Sometimes it gets confused and has the incorrect % and overfuels if running non E-85. There is a TSB for the flex fuel issue, should be a ECU update, reset of the sensor, and recently I heard Toyota was replacing the fuel pump.

I think the owners manual says to fuel with at least 1/4 or 1/2 of the same fuel, so don't switch between fuels in small quantities.

Beers with peppers are almost unobtainium anymore, and I love them.

 

A localish beer, Tommy Knocker. I also made a mistake its Anaheim chili not jalapeno. They have some good ones and some that are meh at best.
