I just bought a used and lifted 2015 Tundra Limited. On my way home from the dealer, I engaged 4Hi at about 55 mph and I immediately heard a noise. I would say it's not a grinding noise, but wondered if it would sound similar to a transfer case chain hitting the case. It does not make any noise in 2Hi. I understand I should have tested the truck better before buying, but that's another matter and irrelevant now. Thanks!!!

    My questions are:
    1. What is the stock pinion angle of front diff?Mine seems tilted up where it meets the u-joint. Wondering if front u-joint is over angle.
    2. Are these transfer cases chain or hear driven?
    3. Are there any known lube or bearing issues with these transfer cases?
    4. Are the front axles, differential and drive shaft always engaged, or are they only engaged in 4x4?
    5. Has anyone else has this issue?

    Need more info:

What type of lift do you have and was a diff drop installed?

What kind of noise? Grinding, high pitched, dog barking?

I caught myself and just finished edits. I didn't have time to look at it, only heard noise while traveling back from Utah to Colorado at night. Didn't need 4x4 then, so didn't use it any more. Been parked since I got home. I'd say it's a 3 or 4" lift, but don't have any info on it. Only thing I've seen is a cut out on the sway bar drop spacers. I believe the diff was dropped, but unsure if pinion angle is normal or due to lift.

Sorry, not sure how the community can help without more info.

I put more info in the original post and additional questions that can be answered without knowing what brand of lift.
