Tech 12 volts, I did it

Ok people. I've taken your advice and ordered the 07 TO 20 TUNDRA KENWOOD HERTZ COMPLETE AUDIO PACKAGE from Tech12volts. Makes me nervous to spend so much on something I can not hold or talk to face to face.
But every one here praises them so..... I did it.

Now tell me good things and don't tell my wife. seriously, she's kill me in my sleep. hehehe

 

I am in the same situation. I ordered every thing except the Kenwood receiver/radio. I received everything, but haven't had the time to install it. Seeing that you purchased the Kenwood receiver/radio, can you fill me in on how the install went with the radio, and how you like the radio. That will be my next purchase after i install the speakers/amp and sub. I also can't tell my wife either, she will kill me for sure.

I was lucky to live 2 hours from James...he did my install a few weeks ago. You won't be disappointed. I kept my stock head unit.. even with it.....I love it

 

I also want to pull trigger but I don’t want to regret not doing head unit... I want bad ass loud sound but I don’t want overwhelming bass.. I’m a rock guy

 

JRT was great to work with and you will be happy. Took me 2 weeks with me working 24 hour shiftwork and just completed this Tuesday. Sounds great. I got the JBL set up, but ended up with Hertz 170's and upgraded to 2 JL Audio 10's with Infinity 5 channel Amp. It was my first install. I couldn't have done it without the help of Justbass, he was major help to me and great sounding board when I got stuck. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. After Justbass helping me, I can only pass it forward.

 

Mine sounds great and you won't be disappointed. I'm big rock guy and heavy metal guy. I do listen to all music, but I must say when I put in Avenge Sevenfold "Hail to the King Ragnar", that shit got real !!!! Sounded amazing. I'm still pumped to listen to it. Wife thinks I'm having mid life crisis, lol

 

Just placed my order today as well. Was tough to make the move not hearing it or speaking to the team face to face as someone has already mentioned but all the reviews from everyone I couldn’t let another day go by listening to that horrible sound from my stock jbl. I purchased the complete hertz kit but went with a single 10 since I’m a rock guy everyone swore by the 10 inch.

No vendor would get so much praise if it Wasn’t exceptional. I’ve done a few of these systems and they are great. James is a small outfit so no super fancy website but he is the real deal.

 

Heh, my package is more 'basic' (Hertz K170's for the fronts/rears; JBL Stadium 5 for the amp replacement; and then a Kicker 10" in one of Tech12Volts' sub boxes). With that said, yeah it's totally 'stealth' and it's SO much fun to have someone ride along and put on a song that starts out kinda quiet and then *boom* the bass hits.

Sweet you won't be sorry for the purchase at all. Took me 3 weekends mostly because I did it in stages and did complete sound deadening back wall and doors installing speakers as I went, then installed the AMP. I re-worked James JBL with DSR1 install guide for the package you bought. He asked me to do a few others for him, just waiting for them to be sent to me. Hertz are some of the best bargain speakers I've ever heard. I get it not hearing it first, but there is a reason people rave about it, all the tuning work has been done including the DSR and it just works when you get that AMP in and fired up sit back and enjoy.

Only things I did different from the kit, is I'm building a new AMP rack as I think the wiring can be cleaner, but the one supplied is more than adequate so its not necessary. The other is I bought a marine midi fuse holder just to have something smaller in the engine bay.

any suggestions on a dual USB module to hook up to my head unit that works with the black slots below my climate controls?

nice. good stuff. did you get the soundshield deadener too? consider that if not. all doors and back panel recommended. spend so much on components, try to minimize noise interference.

 

The wiring diagram was there, but the Tundra years listed was 2005 - 2006, so make sure when you grab one that is designed for your model year and equipment model (hu) or there will be a lot of cussing needed in the middle of the install

 

I got Noico dampening mat and some Road Kill foam rings. I intended to do the doors definately but if any left over, do the back wall.

 

This system is next on my upgrade list. Love Opeth too. Stock stereo is so disappointing.

 

For those who installed this, or close, how is the amp installed when no JBL system is present? How are the front and rear tweets mounted in non jbl?

 

I have mine installed since February of last year and love it. Below are my photos of the dash, tweeters and amp install. I had non JBL truck and it still had a factory amp under the passenger seat. Using James Sub box under the rear seat since I have a double cab.

I am getting ready to install my system from James as well. I also have a non JBL. Can I ask you a few questions please.

1. did you purchase the center speaker from James - How is it wired in, is it wired to the new amp or just the radio.
2. Can you send me a picture of how the sub box is mounted. I purchased the single sub box. I also have a DC.
3. did you change the radio also?

You're the BEST, thank you very much for the info and the pic. I didn't know where the sub actually went, i thought it went behind the seat. I like my storage bin, but the sacrifice is well worth it.

 

One more question if you don't mind. What are the speakers that you have in your front dash corners. I didn't purchase those from James. I got the Herz component speakers for the doors. The speakers will go in the doors and the sail panels. I'm guessing i will remove the from the front dash.

 

Dual JL's in the center and Infinity in the corners of the dash.

 

Got my maestro unit in with harness and there is no instructions, lovely. Whole lot of adapter and no clue what they are.
