It costs $5 to post an auto for sale ad on craigslist now. Not sure when that started, but it s sort of depressing.

Guess it's to weed out all the car dealers posting hundreds of ads.

Add it to the cost of the truck or what your selling.... I’m sure people do that all the time. Buyer pays for it....:notsure:

Been that way since at least the beginning the year. A 5 dollar fee to sell a vehicle worth thousands is insignificant IMO.

we’re talking $5 right not $50? Just making sure. Cheaper than AutoTrader or Ebay

Yeah it must take a ton of money to keep craigslist operational so I think $5 is a steal.

It’s been like that for along time over a year. Pretty shitty honestly but I knew it was coming. Facebook marketplace seems like the new thing anyway I’d post you’re stuff there

When I listed my truck last month, I paid the $5 for craig's list, the $50 for Auto Trader and around $10 for Facebook Marketplace.

95% of my hits came from Facebook Marketplace, including the ultimate buyer. Facebook isn't straight forward as it's free but they hit you with ad buys to increase your exposure. I put down $10 but I can't say what effect that had.

Exact same experience selling my last Lexus GS. I think I had 3 emails from the auto trader listing vs. 50 from facebook marketplace, including the person that ultimately bought it.

Maybe they can use some of that money to make their website better. Seriously just add some blinking fonts and you have a website straight out of 1993!

Post it in the auto parts section for free and see what you get.

If it doesn't sell there then post it in autos for sale.

And also $5 ain't sh1t for what you get there. Ever sell a car through the classifieds in the newspaper? $50, no pics, three lines. good luck with your sale.

What's $5 to a dealer though, even at cluttering with multiple ads...customer ends up paying anyway.

    just my 2 cents

Where else can you get that kind of exposure for $5? It probably helps to weed out scammers as well

A "cause of the month" sounds cool whether it be a fee charged, or a voluntary pay type structure; sort of like a raffle. The logistics would probably be a bitch though.

I heard a report today on this morning's news about all the buy/sell fraud going on now on Facebook Marketplace and it's rising. I've never had issues buying or selling on Craigslist. It's all how you go about it. I avoid Frackbook like the plague anyways.

only problem with FB marketplace is that its less private than CL.

CL - all communications can be done via email with no exchange of personal info, no profile to follow/stalk/etc. lot of personal info can be found off social media.

While I was up in Anchorage a can't fix stupid guy stole a rare dog sled from the early days of Iditarod. Stole it from the backyard of the guy who has won it a few times. The sled belonged to his dad if I recall correctly. Everyone in Alaska pretty much new about it's history. The fool who stole it put it on Craigslist. LEO's were informed. They arranged to buy it. Perp arrested. Ha!

I've never found Craigslist a gamble at all. I bought so much cool stuff off Craigslist for my 07. Great deals. It's all about how you do it. Communicate first by email. Set up a public meeting place. Near a Leo station, Ho Depot parking lot, any place public with lots of folks around. I find that most Yota sellers or buyers have been honest.

Word! I like seeing who I will be dealing with and I won't sell something I won't stand behind. If I'm selling it, you will know every reason I'm selling and if it's a POS or not.
