This is my first truck with leaf springs so I'm having a hard time making up my mind as to what I want to do. I know coil springs and leaf springs perform the same function just in a different form. The thing I'm having a hard time with is knowing what I need to meet my goals. as of now the truck is stock. I plan on making this a mildly capable offroad truck for overlanding and pulling our small trailer. We have a cross country trip coming up Summer 2021 and we need to be able to drive forest roads, desert roads, and pretty much everything in between. No crawling or serious trails. Here are my approximate needs:

-400lbs+/- constant bed load (decked drawers, bed rack or topper, bike rack)
-150lbs+/- constant weight from rock sliders
-350lbs+/- tongue weight towing our trailer
-285/295 width tires on stock TRD wheels
-1.5" lift up front 2-3" rear to add some rake and help with sagging during towing
-Don't want air bags/sumo springs due harsh rebound characteristics
-keep factory Fox coilover and shocks

I have done a lot of reading here and I think I have an idea of what I need but I need some expert advice. I think the front is fairly simple. Westcott Designs collar/spacer kit to get the 1.5" lift. There will be a bit of extra weight on the front from the sliders but it shouldn't warrant upgrading the coils. The rear is where my head starts to hurt. I'm thinking about going with the CB +2 shackles and some form of an add a leaf or leaf expansion pack. I don't want to rely on a shackle or block lift alone since that only addresses the sag, not the added weight. I think increased spring rate is needed for that. The question is, what leaf upgrade? I can't find anything that tells me what the spring rates are on the multitude of add a leaf, expansion packs, or complete replacements. I have seen several people use custom packs from Alcan but I don't want to spend over $1k on the springs. There has to be an off the shelf offering that can get close to the same result without having to put me in the poor house. Can someone offer advice?

    Nothing but good stuff.
I didn’t want to spend the big bucks on the Alcans either but I’m glad I did. I put a decked system, some weekend gear and an ARE camper on and my Pro had serious sag...and rode terrible. With the weight of everything I totaled up, there was no way the stock springs were gonna cut it. I had alcan make my springs for +750lbs and a 1” lift. They’re great and the truck looks good and rides perfect. If I did it again I would do it for +1000lbs and a 2” lift.
