    Hello!

New to me Tundra 2017 Limited purchased out here in southern Oregon.

I love the truck and have already made a few cosmetic upgrades that I love. Not to mention the TRD exhaust which is just plain fun.

Now, I bought the Tundra when I fell in love with it and I am not in anyway a “truck” person in terms of knowledge and I likely should have learned more prior to making the buy. But now I found this forum and know way more than I thought I would.

This truck originated in its life in Wisconsin and likely had a few years of salt (which was foreign to me out in oregon) so I didn’t think anything. Now reading here I’m all concerned! I was working on installing the Ecoological bumper covers to rid the chrome. One of the under bolts was tight so I put some oil on it and then worked on it. I thought it was just starting to come undone but then it popped and the screw busted ($&@!). Not even sure how to fix that.... doesn’t seem to impact function and everything is still tight from the other screws. Made me start looking more at the truck and I can see evidence for some rust but it seems mostly superficial. Many of the bolts clearly faced some corrosion.

really wanting thoughts on the best method for protection now that the truck is out here in a non salt environment.

Truck handles amazing, runs awesome and I love it. Just want to see opinions for my care going forward!

I’ve seen that. Wondering if I should just go ahead and get under it and coat it as is with that.

Im in San Diego and I had a little of that rust on the underbody- got some Rustoleum Rust Dissolver and cheap foam brushes and it worked. I will inspect it occasionally and reapply. No worries. I was gonna get some Corroseal (water based) or Por-15 but the Rustoleum was local and cheap.

I’m wondering if a body shop could drill out the broken bolt and replace it...
