Double Cab Vs Crew Max and why.

Another point for the CM if you want it: "No, sorry. I can't help you move. My truck only has a tiny little bed. You'll have to find somebody else to schlepp your shit across town."

 

Every time I've moved, we hauled a trailer with my dad's V6 Suzuki Grand Vitara.

 

Almost bought one of those way back in 2005. Seemed like a decent little all rounder type of vehicle.

 

At the time my parents were buying, it was the only compact SUV they could find with a V6 and a ladder frame that wasn't a Jeep.

 

Those Vitaras were legit.

100% agree on the 6’ bed.

The only thing I miss about from previous 2 DC Tundras (01 access cab and 2010 Rock Warrior) was having a shell on the back, and being able to comfortably sleep under it. Can’t do that with my CM.

The reverse logic is also true, your cab is ONE WHOLE FOOT larger lol. Honestly you can't go wrong with either IMHO, all about personal preference. So to all those people calling you short, or that your truck doesn't look like a real truck, or your should have just gotten a minivan if you wanted more cab space, tell them to piss off!

CM here... it was an easy decision since I have two car seats on the back. I have moved lumber, couches, motorcycles,... it was more than fine. If you wanted to see a struggle you should have seen me load 15 4x8 sheets of sheetrock on my Sport Trac with a 4ft bed...

 

I was always curious why folks bought those. When they first came out, I got the impression they were a more expensive F150 with less space in the box and cab.

 

My guess is for people who wanted something "sporty" but also a truck.

 

Of course the reverse is also true. But CM owners aren’t mocking DC trucks for having a smaller backseat. At least not to the extent that we see the “my DC is superior because your CM is a minivan without a respectable bed” posts. It’s just funny to me. CM and DC owners use their trucks as trucks. Like you said, whichever you got is your personal preference and is right for you.

 

Yeah, I don't understand why people seem to get personally offended that others have different needs and priorities than they do.

 

I bought mine used for 5k, kept it for 7 years until the engine died at 120k miles. My impression was if you barely need a truck, you bought one of those.

I like both actually, and have no interest in bashing either a DC or Crew. Guarantee if I still had growing kids and take long trips....the crew is great and can still haul pretty much anything. But - I'm an empty nester now and would rather have the 6' bed instead of the extra room in the cab since there's really only the two of us now. Just got my '20 Limited DC with the offload package last week. Again, both great trucks IMO.

 

Got 2 toddlers so 2 car seats. Main reason I got a new truck is I was sick of squeezing them in my ram quad cab. I’m 6’4” so neither could sit behind me. One in the middle and one in passenger side. Car seats take up a lot of room. Loving the crew max. My seat is all the way back and a car seat behind me and she can barely touch my seat with her feet.

 

Definitely NOT saying it was on Tundras.com but the majority of CM v DC posts on the FB groups start out as you bought a DC "cause you poor", point out that I dont have kids and to old for them them got rude remarks about that. On the FB groups it is as if you can't convince them that DC was my first choice not my fallback because of the price, paid off with in first year. MY thinking is I can and have (once) stuffed 5 adults in cab worked out fine, if I need extra bed space and not around a trailer I am screwed, can't stuff mulch in the cab.

 

DC because I need the bed. I actually cant ever remember folding down the back seats. My dog and gear are the only things that go back there. I will probably remove them and build a dog platform so he can see out the window on trips eventually .

One of the reasons I sold my new Raptor, it wasn't good at being a truck.

 

Not a fan of the dc looks but I must say the camper shell makes yours look really good

 

This affirms my decision to generally stay off Facebook.

I like both. Both are fantastic trucks. CM makes more sense for me given my needs, my job, and my family.
