That about sums it up. You should have stop there. At least you admit you compared the two systems with only a visual inspection as your due diligence.

Oh really? The only "positive" thing you've mentioned is your wife managed to avoid a few accidents thus confirming that an ADAS worked as ... a safety system. Thanks for the insight. I'm glad you like your FLIR system.

I find it remarkable that you've owned a product longer than its been in the market, it just crossed the 6 year mark to market not too long ago (and yes I confirmed the release date with a FLIR PR):

Negative. Stop being dishonest. That's my issue with you. Not sure why you are having such a hard time understanding anything either.

You've been dismissive of characteristics and concerns a buyer should consider before purchasing. Yet you haven't disputed anything I've said or offered your own advice. Unlike your anecdotal evidence I am not just sharing personal experience as a user, but also as an installer and as a maintainer, and I'm backing it up with OSINT.

You still seem to think you're the only person in the world to have used one. I'll reiterate again: from my perspective as user, installer, and maintainer; two of the common top issues with these are:
    • Lens damage
      • Issue: degrades image or renders camera inoperable.
      • Causes: Debris impact. Improper cleaning.
      • Solution: Impact resistant lens and/or Replaceable lens and/or protective shield (special Germ or ZnSe panel). Installation position can reduce this issue
    • Moisture behind the lens
      • Issue:degrades image or renders camera inoperable.
      • Causes: Weather. Cleaning.
      • Solution: IP69K rating is desirable. Lower ratings are likely to have issues with internal fogging.
So what does FLIR (from their user manual) say about these concerns?:
      • Sec 3.4/Page 12 "The location in the grille should be selected to avoid extreme temperatures or fast temperature change (e.g. hot air from the engine compartment). Imager location in the grille should be selected to minimize exposure to road debris, sand abrasion and stone impacts. A higher location is a better choice to avoid damage to the imager."

      • Sec 3.3/Page 10 "Do not install in areas of high moisture, dust or air intake paths. Doing so may hinder the performance of the PathFindIR II unit and cause image degradation or window damage."
Its almost like the manufacture and I agree these are issues to look out for and gave similar precautions. Imagine that.

but what does "Stig" say about all of this?
