Greetings from Louisiana. Currently driving an F-150 but may be making the switch to a Tundra soon. Have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum and decided it was time to join.

Need some advice on which Tundra to choose. Have a bigg(ish) family so it'll need to be a Crew Max. My kids are constantly spilling stuff on the seats so it'll need to be leather. I spend some time in the woods so it'll need to be 4WD. That being said, I spend the most of my time on concrete. I have dreams of overlanding across Texas, NM, AZ, UT, etc. when my boys are a little older. In the near term, I plan to rent a trailer and do some light RV camping around here, and along the Gulf Coast.

I love the look of the TRD Pro, and I like that it comes pretty much ready to go after a new set of tires. Would probably add the Coachbuilder kit to lift it slightly and run 295/70/r18 KO2s. Alternatively, I could go with the Limited, and invest in a better suspension (Icon?), but not a huge lift. I know it's not possible to increase the payload of the truck, but I would like to reduce sag since I intend to occasionally pull a trailer or load up the back. Would anyone wait to see what the 2022 Tundra has to offer? Reliability is very important to me. Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome from SW Louisiana.
I'd personally say to go more for the limited and upgrade suspension accordingly. The pro comes with the 2" higher front end, but if you're changing out suspension, you're almost eliminating the purpose of the pro (just my opinion).
To reduce sag on the truck, depending on what is towed often, I would say throw some airbags on it and maybe even an on board air compressor for ease of use and all. If not airbags, I'd go with add a leaf system to help with that sagging issue. Good luck with purchase.

Not sure where you're at, but if around Lake Charles area, go towards another dealer. My whole family has bought our toyotas from another dealer cuz they DO NOT like to deal. I've even had the owner ask to speak with me and I was pretty honest with him....not rude or ugly, just honest. All or us have saved thousands between trade in and purchase price. Just FYI man. Welcome aboard

SR5 and add leather and better suspension. Still be cheaper than a limited. Don’t let the kids eat bin the truck.

Welcome from NELA, regardless of the "trim level" that you decide on getting. You will be getting the best, reliable, simplest truck available. Again Welcome.

Thanks. I've noticed that too. Dealers have all been very nice, but they explain that they can sell a 4WD Tundra almost immediately with no discounts or deals beyond what is advertised. Have Tundras always been this popular or are people just desperate to get what may be the last Tundra with a V8?

I think it's just a matter of limited supply from covid hindering. Tundras aren't a top 3 seller and they seem to be ok with that. I just noticed our dealership never budged on anything for any of my family. Tundras, 4runners, Highlanders, and sequoias. Idk. I always had to buy in towns neighboring or even other states. Same with the rest of my family. It sucks, but if I'm gonna save thousands, yea....I'll do it

    Buy a CrewMax w/leather and upgrade suspension/wheels. My 2¢.
