    Hello everyone!

I’m new to this forum. I bought a 2005 Tundra site unseen out of Chicago a couple months back. After receiving the truck,I noticed significant rust coming from the frame.

Knowing that my worst fears about the truck were about to come true— I had a local shop look at it. We discovered that frame is completely rotted needed replaced it.

I found a frame out of TX and had it shipped to the shop. I even had it sandblasted and powder coated.

Upon getting the bed and cab off the frame I found out I’m even more worse off than I thought, all brake lines etc and accessory parts from the frame are shot. So, basically I’m in a position to where we are trying to get a “frame repair kit” from Toyota which is listed for about $300, It comes with bolts, brake lines etc. Toyota wants to sell it for close to 1K! (We are trying to fight this).

Even with this news—I’m still in a place where I want to put all new suspension. I.e. 3 inch lift. I have Bilstien 5100’s all around. However, I’m a newbie and need suggestions on wheels and tires and help decided on what to beef up the rear suspension to. My father and I will be using this truck to haul a small 3025e from our properties. No significant off roading. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a part number for this frame repair kit? @Roman works for Toyota of Cool Springs and has some of the best prices on OEM parts. Maybe he can beat the price you've been quoted.

Sorry about the rust, that's unfortunate.

For rear suspension I'd just get heavy duty leaf springs. No need to go custom if your just using it to tow around and no off-roading. ATS and General Springs both have options.

For wheels, there are tons of options, the Tacoma and 4 runner wheels fit and it's easy to find them for cheap on craigslist or facebook. You can get nearly new takeoffs with stock tires for a good price too.

@TangoMike2005 any chance you’re near the east coast? I have a set of 2005 SR5 16” tundra wheels I’m going to send down the road. I’m ordering new ones today actually
