Had my Tundra in for the Fuel Pump Recall and they gave me a 2020 Tacoma SR5 Rental.. (I have a 2019 Tundra LImited).

I'm glad it was only one day, I didn't care for the Tacoma at all.. I felt like I was sitting on the ground and man was it cramped. Glad it was only for one day as I didn't care for that thing at all.

Imagine owning it for 2 years.
I had a 2018 TRD Offroad and couldn't wait to be rid of it.

I hated driving it so much... I actually considered trading it on a new F250.

Thankfully my Toyota dealer put together a good deal on a Tundra and saved me from making another mistake.

But yeah... the Tacoma was such a disappointment. Looked cool as hell... but drove like crap. Felt like I was dragging a parachute behind me all the time.

I test drove one and liked the idea of having a truck with decent fuel efficiency. Then I drove the Tundra and declared, "It's a truck! I don't need fuel efficiency!" That's what our Audi TDI is for!

Agree 100%. I had a 2018 Inferno TRDOR. It was a beautiful truck but I hated driving it. One day it downshifted to 3rd to get up a hill with just me in it. Traded it that day. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Only way I would ever get a Tacoma again is only with a manual. The 05 I had was a good little truck but needed the room for family.

Funny thing is... my Tundra gets the same gas mileage as my Tacoma did.
I dont know how the fuck that little 3.5 drinks so much gas and puts out so little power... but Toyota really smacked it out of the park with those things.

We have 2014 and 2018 Tacomas. Very big difference in power delivery. I enjoy driving the 14, but hate driving the 18. They really downgraded between those models.

    Yep the '14 has a 4.0 vs the 3.5 in the '18.

I found the exact same comparison to my wifes 2016 4Runner. Hers has the 4.0 and runs great. Plenty of power and enjoyable to drive.
I got out of the 2018 Tacoma pissed off every time I drove it.

We have two 4Runners as well (and three spoiled sons obviously). I have no use for the 3.5 unless it comes with a manual transmission. They'll tell you it has more power than the 4.0, but you have to drive it like a dirt bike to find that extra get up and go.

Yeah the power band is up way too high for that engine. No normal person will be driving like that, and I only ever did when I was towing.

Also, I tested the manual Tacoma and the clutch is so damn long it was a chore to shift. I was really hopeful about it and ready to trade the old taco for it if it drove better than it did.

I had a 2008 4.0L, and I was happy with it. However, I didn't know what true happiness was until I sold it and got my Tundra. I have the 4.6L, too, and I can still feel the difference.

Ditto, I had a 2015 Taco with the 4.0 and my 5.7 Tunny gets the same gas mileage. Taco was so friggin cramped (im 5’3” 120#) and couldnt tow or haul worth a shit. It could barely get out of its own way but that thing could get groceries like nobodys business
My husband told me to get the Tundra before I bought the Taco. I didnt think I needed the full size truck, turns out I did so I sold the Taco two years later for the Tundra. He was right. He reminds me of that from time to time.

Yep... in hindsight I should have bought a Tundra in 2018 instead of the Taco. It would have saved me 2 frustrating years of driving it.

Test drove three of them trying to like it. Ended up with a Tundra, and happy about that

Same here....test drove the Tacoma when trying to get rid of my Sierra.
I like the look of the Tacoma....
Sporty and fun. I am only 5'9" but I even felt cramped in it. Louder engine sound than I wanted to.
    Then test drove the Tundra....
    And bought it! NO regrets.
