    Hello fellow members,
Thank you all for looking at my post and if you can help, I would appreciate.
I recently purchased a 2011 with 97k km which used to be a snow plow truck. I embarked on a big journey. Even though the kms are low, it suffered a lot from the salty roads and sort of negligence of previous 2 owners.
    Anyway...
The steering is very very hard. I changed the fluid and it improved a bit, seemed that they had never changed it however still hard to steer and locks sometimes.
I did notice that the hoses are all corroded and need to be changed but not my real concern right now.
I noticed a leak coming from the steering rack, return line as shown in the picture I am attaching.
The catch is that there is a little "pipe" that is connected in the rack in the return line.
This pipe cannot be purchased separately from what the dealer told me, it comes with a brand new steering rack that costs around 1k here believe it or not.
The guy at the dealer is a pretty nice guy and even recommended me a shop that refurbishes steering racks and that perhaps they would be able to help me but they also do not have one.
In looking at used racks on ebay, most of the racks for sale also do not come with that little piece.
Any advice? anyone went through a similar experience?
    Thank you

I would bet that metal hose connector comes with the hose and tube assy. Maybe.... Now that I look at the image a little bit better, not so sure

    Thank you Eric.
I did check with the dealer and also went through a lot of diagrams and believe it or not, it does not come with it.

@neuberas if its just the metal pipe , you should be able to disconnect the house clamp and unthread the flare fitting from the rack ... get another pipe from the auto parts store of the same diameter and flare it , cut the original pipe in the straight and remove the flare nut an move it to new pipe. then using the mini pipe bender bend the new pipe to match ... cost of pipe and tools you will look at around $30 max , if your not familiar with bending brake/hydraulic lines feel free to take it to a shop and have them do it... best cost effective way ......

a second way would be to remove the metal pipe , clean it with non chlorinated brake clean and then braze it with a torch and brazing rod. (only recommend
this as temp fix or trail repair compared to the first one)

I just did my steering rack on my tundra and it did not come with that metal hose section.

My lines seemed fine, so I just reused them. No leaks.
