I’m new to the forum but I bought a 2008 Toyota Tundra SR5 with a 4.0 V6 used from the previous owner. I noticed that whenever I’m at highway speeds like at 65-70MPH, the truck shakes like satan holding maracas for the first time. I thought it was a regular tundra thing so I dismissed it and did not think about it much. About a year and a half later I decided to ask a forum which leads me to now. Is this common or is this a problem.

sounds like you need some brake work. That is usually the culprit. This can happen with any car truck. usually it means you need some new rotors. it may be something else but if its only when your braking that's probably it.

Only gripe I’ve really had w/ my truck are the brakes. They definitely warp/leave pad material more than other vehicles I’ve had.

At some point they had a TSB for the dust covers(behind rotors). Seems to indicate a heat problem. Not sure if that was a true fix, but it definitely seems more common for the 2nd gens.

I installed fresh calipers(had a sticky piston), drilled a half dozen 1/2” holes in the dust covers and went with a stoptech “tow kit”(rotors and pads)from buybrakes.com...its been good since.

Mines shaking bad to at 50k Miles. But on some roads it won’t. I’m wondering if the rotors are warped or not as well.

I’ve noticed it gets worse the hotter the brakes are. If your pads and rotors have 50k or more miles on them, I’d suggest looking at replacing them.
