    Awesome explanation, thanks man!

Thanks Matt, I appreciate that!… And I apologize, I just saw your question asking how long it took to ship… That was the only hiccup, when I ordered online it said it was in stock but apparently it wasn’t so I did have to wait a little over three weeks before it arrived… If you decide to order through them I would call and ask about their availability if you’re in a hurry to get it… Hope that helps!

Great advice. I’m probably gonna order from Redline360 because of the sale right now. I have to wait though to sell a few things on eBay to fatten up the PayPal acct before pulling the trigger.

*I’m new here, this is a repost from general discussion*

I’ve recently installed a Stillen TruPower intake I purchased online from Redline360 ($335 after a $10 discount). Claim 20+ HP, 20+ lb ft torque.

Installation wasn’t too bad aside from the tight fitment and relocated air box grommet bolts that need to be reinstalled mostly by feel. Kit came with very basic paper instructions so a YouTube video came in handy. (2020Platinum it was yours!)

Went with oiled filter option after some research suggested it has a deeper tone. Skipped the block off plate option.

It does sound good, throaty but not too loud. Definitely “sounds like” airflow volume has increased.

Initially throttle response increased and acceleration seemed improved; I was pleasantly surprised. Air/fuel mix and computer seemed to really click and truck was definitely more fun to drive.

After 15-20miles mix of highway and stop&go driving the check engine light came on and performance decreased dramatically. Bogging down and borderline limp mode.

Exact code wording in the vehicle alert screen: “A malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle, or automatic transmission has been detected. Contact your Toyota dealer in order to have your vehicle inspected.”

I checked all hoses and connections (were fine) and disconnected the negative battery terminal and the CEL went away. Performance was similar to stock. After about 15mi it came back and performance decreased.

At this point I thought more hassle than it’s worth and asked Redline360 for a return label which they’re denying as they don’t accept returns on installed items. After some back and forth their suggestion is to get the truck tuned.

Truck is a lease through Ally (brokered by Jim R. on LeaseHacker forum - highly recommend) and was planning on returning to stock and selling the Stillen system before turn-in in 2.5yrs so tuning isn’t something I’d like to do.

Any suggestions, feedback, similar issues? Does install look correct?

If I can’t solve this with your help... Anyone wanna buy a very low mileage intake?

Wow, sorry to hear this man!...I’ve had no issues at all with mine, I went with the oiled filter as well for same exact reason, mines performed perfectly...hopefully someone can jump in and help ya out!

Get rid of the oiled filter. The MAF sensor is to close to the filter so it got oil seep from the filter and it’s contaminated the MAF sensor. Oiled filters are old technology, especially when dry filters have better filtration, have just as good flow, if not better and do not cause issues with the MAF.

Install looks correct to me. I would contact Stillen directly and see if they have any tips. Hopefully it’s a easy fix.

Hey all. I just installed the STILLEN Trupower Stage 2 on my 2021 Limited. Thanks again to @2020Platinum for the great install video. Purchase the kit from Redline 360. I bought the dry filter kit. It’s Part TP403203. Quick shipping and great price.

I did run into an issue with my install and those of you getting new stock may run into the same thing.

The STILLEN air box has a small production change. In the wedge that is right next to the port where it pulls air from the fender, there is no more guide pin to transfer the grommet from the Toyota OEM intake onto the STILLEN intake. The grommet would have normally been inserted into the fender.

This appeared to be a problem as the instructions that shipped with the intake tells you to transfer the grommet from the factory intake onto the STILLEN intake’s guide pin, which doesn’t exist on mine. And it shows a picture of it. I called STILLEN today and spoke with someone who had me send a picture of the intake box I received. They called me back and advised that they changed the production specs and the pin is no longer needed and the grommet is also not needed. He said it works fine without this grommet transfer.

I finished the install and the intake seems to be tightly secured. I haven’t driven it yet to see if anything shakes loose but I doubt it will.

Another tip for you all is that securing the two screws in the bottom of the air box to the vehicle is tricky as @2020Platinum mentioned in his video. You can’t see the holes you are screwing into. That and my box did not line up properly without a fair amount of bending. Bottom line: secure the bolt in the center of the box first before securing the one on the edge. I did it the opposite at first and dropped about 20 expletives in 10 minutes.

In any event, hope this helps. Below are a couple of pictures that show the box without the guide pin and then the box installed without the grommet that leaves an open hole in the fender where the grommet would have gone with the factory air box.

pretty sure I know why they removed it. Just got done doing the install on my 2020 and the guide rod no longer lines up properly. If I had known I would have cut it off but now that it’s all installed I’ll just deal with it whenever I have to remove the air box.

One thing I didn’t find out until after the install is the air box is much bigger than stock and isn’t going to be compatible with the ARB twin compressor mount I purchased. This was the most unfortunate part of the install. Planning to keep the intake though. Intake temps are much lower now.

Just joined the forum and bit the bullet on buying the Stillen CAI. OP's video and the subsequent posts sold me on it. Great video @2020Platinum - I will be using it for the install. Anyone want a lightly used K&N CAI with the heat shield and intake pipe generously wrapped in foil backed A/C duct insulation? *cough RICER! cough*

So is it just held together by pressure of the box squeezing the grommet against the fender wall?

Yea guys that grommet is only to “brace” the Stillen box up against truck, allows it to sit firm in the spot with no wiggle to it...I can take a pic of mine as well but it’s exactly as pictured above

Just got mine installed this Friday. Definitely a challenge getting the two bolts to line up at the bottom of the box. Had issues with the grommets wallowing out and adding to misalignment. I used a spare M6 screw/bolt that I had laying around to help keep the box in place laterally while installing the OEM one at the center of the box. The M6 screw helped a little with keeping the box in alignment prior to installing the rear OEM bolt for the box.

Think I'm going with the Stillen over the Pedal commander right now, so should i go with oiled or dry? Probably get the P C down the road.

Oiled vs Dry is kind of a personal preference, there’s definitely pros/cons to each...I did a ton of research before making my decision but I basically went with the oiled for the simple fact that most people (not all) say that the oiled gives you a little more/deeper sound...now some worry about the oiled messing with the MAF, I’ve had no issues at all with that...if you do re-oil it yourself just be very careful not to add too much or you may run into problems...not gonna lie, I will probably just replace mine when it’s time instead of cleaning/re-oiling...hope that helps!
