Hi everyone, long time Toyota lover, first time poster. Had a 2008 Taco, then a 2006 Tundra, and then upgraded to a 2011 DC a few months ago and got sucked into all the mods you fine folks post about. I also don't see a lot of red trucks featured, so I thought I'd go ahead and post some pics of what I am working on and see what you all think.

Here is a list of completed mods:

Eibach PRO Adjustable Lift Kit w/ 1" rear block (gave me about 2.5 front/1 rear)
20x9 Moto Metal MO970 milled wheels (0 offset)
    295/60/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
    Flowmaster HD50 Exhaust
    Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
    Pioneer Double Din Headunit
    Backup cam
    Rockford Fosgate Door Speakers
    Rockville 8" Powered Sub
    New all black grill

Here is a list of mods in progress:

    Plasti-Dipping Badges
Line-X Premium on bumpers and steps (should be done Thursday)
Bushwacker OE Style Flares Painted to Match (should be done Thursday or Friday)
Katzkin Leather Seat Covers (tbd...early next year)
    New Headlights (looking for recommendations!)

This forum was very helpful in deciding on many of these upgrades, so I hope this helps a few others along the way.

Thanks for taking a look. Happy modding!

Before Pic (sorry didn't have any under better conditions):

Mine is the same as your first pic. My stock wheels have to go, been looking for something on the local CL, but nothing decent yet. Already have the paint to get rid of that chrome grill surround as well. Too much stuff going on around the house right now to get rolling, but retiring the end of the year, so I'll have time to get to the mods I want done before I hit the road with the travel trailer.... I like what you've done so far. Make it yours....

Thank you sir! So you are going to paint the surround yourself? I'm still not sure if I am completely sold on the all black grill but figured I'd ride it out for a bit before I pay to have the surround color matched. Plus I am thinking it will look better once the bumpers are black...but I guess we'll see later this week.

Also, side note...what kind of travel trailer are you pulling? I've been looking at toy haulers but those get pretty heavy when loaded and may put too much strain on it. So I am looking at other options.

I picked up the duplicolor BR spray can a few weeks ago. Several youtube vids out there on how to remove the surround and prep/paint. I can't stand that chrome surround on the grill, I'm ok with the bumpers for now. No TT yet, still looking for a decent used one, but the market is too hot right now from a seller standpoint due to covid. I'll find one in a few months. You no doubt have seen some the talk about what's best to tow on this 1/2 ton, so I need to pick one that suits my needs, but doesn't overload the truck. I don't what to tow at max capacity, need some "safety" room...

Ok cool, good to know. I installed the new grill myself and it was a cake walk. Painting may be another story though...ha. The first grill I received was actually damaged so they replaced it for free and did not want the first one back. So I guess I do have a practice piece if need be.

And yes, all recreational items seem to be on the high end right now so I definitely won't be pulling the trigger anytime soon. Due to the weight concerns, I have also started looking into off-road style enclosed trailers. I like the idea of a hybrid option of having a durable trailer where I can haul the toys but will also make camping comfortable. They are also pretty slick looking...but definitely not cheap! This one is super cool...but with the bathroom and tanks added, the weight starts creeping up there: https://www.coloradotrailersinc.com...-new-toy-hauler-castle-rock-co-80104-i2758478

Paint will not work well on the chrome surround.

I had a 2013 Barcelona with Line-X'ed bumpers....sold it last week as I have a 2020 Barcelona now. Let me find some pics for you. For headlights, Morimoto XB leds!

I took a sander to it. The paint actually cracked after a short time. Shops here won't even entertain the idea.

I have a gloss black surround that I never installed before I sold the truck. You could move your insert over to it after you paint it...unless you need black.

    Thanks Kidnapped!

And thanks for the pic Tundra234! Those bumpers look good. Glad I went with the Line-X option. I also love those Morimotos HLs...makes a huge difference.

Thanks Toyofan! I feel like a kid at Christmas time waiting for Line-X to call. I've been wanting that chrome gone since I got it, so really looking forward to seeing it. Also got word back from the shop that the flares are done so hopefully by Friday those will be on as well.

So I have my mind made up on Katzkin interior...just trying to decide on the style. What does everyone think of this set up? First pic is a stock pic of the sand beige cloth I have now. For the Katzkins, the lighter color will be a match to that (so they say) and the darker accent I am thinking as deep a brown as they can get. The dash and doors look more gray in the pics, but in person, they almost look brown...

Bumper and step Line-X is done and flares are on. I really like how the bumpers and steps turned out. Still not sure if I’m sold on the flares or not. I feel like it took away the aggressive look more than I’d hoped. Paint match is great though. Any thoughts?

Looks great, but I would have left the flares black or asked about Line-X them too.

Thanks for the feedback! I did bolt them up when they were still black and thought they looked too bulky with my leveling kit. I think the black looks better with bigger lifts and more aggressive stances...and I think that’s what I don’t like about it now. Even with it blending in red, I feel like it makes it look more stock. I’ll leave it for a few days and see what if it grows on me. If not, I may have some flares for sale. Ha!

HAHA, I like the aggressive look. But everyone is different. That's what makes truck and car shows so great, different views.

Ha! Yep, me too. I think I’ve decided to box the flares up and put them on when I add a bigger lift down the road. I think once she has a 6” lift and some 35’s, the flares would accent it better instead of taking away from it. Makes sense in my head at least!

Made a few updates...swapped my wheels with some Black Rhino Overland 20x9.5s, finished dipping my badges, got some Depo headlights, and had my rear exit dual exhaust rerouted behind the tires and replaced the chrome tips with black tips. I also had Katzkins installed but don't have any good pics yet. I'll add some of those later.

Looks good. The red and black theme looks familiar. Line-X knows be by name.....step bars, bumpers, and flares lol.

Haha! Nice. I believe I used your 2nd gen tundra as inspiration for getting my chrome bumpers done. Your 3rd gen looks even better!

Damn, that's pretty cool. I saw the guy who converted his 2nd gen single cab into a 3rd gen inside and out. Definitely some cool stuff going on in this forum!

Question for you @Tundra234 ...I noticed you painted the grill surround on both of your tundras...did you do that yourself or have it done at a shop?

The first one I did myself. It didn't turn out that well since painting chrome usually doesn't work well. The best option would be to buy a painted one and have a shop color match it. For my 2020, I bought it from Sparks.

ok cool. i currently have an all black one that should be more paintable so was considering trying it myself. then if it didn't work out very well I was going to do the Sequoia TRD Pro grill swap instead of spending the $$ on getting the grill painted. too many damn options with these trucks...ha
