    Hello all,
Hoping to join the group soon as a Tundra owner. Im coming from a 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport that I just sold. It was an awesome truck.

Now I'm looking at the TRD sport package Tundra which I'm kinda familiar with from the Tacoma sport. I understand the Tundra will be alot different. I like the upgraded headlights, suspension, color matched bumpers, dual zone temp and push button.

I also like the Trail aesthetics and package but have found it's a little more stripped down. I like the wheels and storage is a cool feature. With that said it's about 2k cheaper than the TRD sport.

    Which one and why?

Thanks for the input/tips ahead of time.

Really dig into the features and see if there are any that you can't add later that you can't live without. Pick the one that checks the most boxes. Color matching bits can always be done later, but stuff like the bed storage/cooler might be restricted to Trail models only. Just see what features you want most/can't add later.

good point. I think I can add aftermarket to a Trail Edition the sway bars, head lights and color match front chrome bumper. Just can’t add individual climate control.

TRD sport I’d leave as is but eventually change the boring TRD sport wheels.

I wonder if the bed storage on the trail actually helps or just does it just get in the way and take away from the already small 5.5foot box?

Like if I put a shell on the bed would the trail storage boxes become pointless?

I watched a video on it...looks like it takes up a lot of space for not much storage.

If you use your truck bed for hauling stuff, it will be a PITA. I couldn't imagine putting my camping gear, top soil, gravel, branches etc in the back with those boxes on the sides

I think the TRD Sport is the one to get.
    It has.....
    LED headlights & driving lights
TRD Front & rear sway bars
Color matched bumpers (front & rear), grill surround, hood bulge
    TRD shocks

You would probably/eventually add this things to the Trail Edition.

**Not sure what the Trail Edition offers **

After watching the video above the trail edition while a nice truck is a bit underwhelming.

I think the sport may be better package.

I’d get the sport over the trail edition

The sport has all the good stuff on it looks great and I feel it rides a little better on road with the trd sway bar and tuned bilstine shocks

So the price difference becomes less of an issue when you start adding things to the Trail to get what the Sport already has. IMO the only things the Trail has is the bed storage boxes, and those are going to be very polarizing; and the low production number/rarity. Personally, the rarity means nothing to me, so it boils down to the bed boxes vs the color match. Knowing what I know now after having my TRD Off Road for a bit over a year; I think I would get a Sport if I were to do it again. The only downside to the Sport for me is the hood scoop. Everything else is easily changed/modded to taste.

I'd theoretically be interested in the colour matching of the Sport and the rear sway bar but I don't hate chrome that much and the sway bar is less than $500. Plus in Canada, the Tail is the only trim you can get in army green this year.

We went threw the same thing when we ordered our truck. Originally was going to get a trd off road in quicksand but can't stand the chrome. Would have ended up costing more money to change everything over. Ended up with a trd sport in voodoo blue. Nooo regrets!
