FYI.. I purchase a 2020 Tundra that came with Steel wheels. I replaced them with the alloy Toyota wheels, I had discount tire shop swapped the wheels and the new sensors would not program to the truck, sensors had to be replaced because they did not fit on the alloy wheels.

after a couple trips to the tire shop and the manager unsusefully not being able to program the new sensors I went to Toyota dealership, this is what they are telling me.. they are claiming that because my tundra came with steel wheels the computer will only program to the original sensors. Has anyone had this issues before? I cant imagine every tundra with aftermarket wheels has the TPS Sensors not working.

I will find out this weekend if aftermarket TPMS works. My winter tires are getting mounted and programmed at my local shop on Saturday. Aftermarket alloy wheels and, as far as I can tell, non-OEM TPMS sensors are being used. Though I do have the OEM alloys stock.

Wouldn't make sense to me if the wheel is steel vs aluminum and that's what's causing the problem.

Many members have switched over from OEM steel wheels to OEM alloy successfully. The sensors are different between the two types of wheels but they can be programmed....

I swapped steel for alloy wheels and my tire shop used Autel aftermarket sensors which have been just fine. Mines a 2019, I don’t know if anything changed in 2020.

I used my Autel TMPS programmer on my new wheels/tires on my 2020 Platinum. Very easy to do, about 5 minutes.

    All,
Issue has been fixed! I took the truck to Toyota they installed OEM sensors for the alloy wheels and program them to my truck. It did cost me $386.00.
Discount tire offered to do a 100% Refund since they weren't able to Program the sensors they sold me..
