Looking to recalibrate speedometer for larger wheels and tires. Both Hypertech and Rough Country do not have a model that works on a Gen 1.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

In checking for fit for Yellow Box they ask the following question. I don't know the answer regarding my 2005 Tundra:

"Compatibility with the Yellow Box is determined by the type of speed sensor used in your vehicle. Does your vehicle use a hall-effect sensor (has 3-wires), or an inductive coil speed sensor (has 2-wires)?"

    Anyone?

05 has a different wiring than prior models. There isn't a unit that will work on 05-06 that I am aware of.

Truspeed used to make a unit as well but I believe it is discontinued.

If you go look at the speed sensor on the end of your transfer case you will be able to answer your own question.

Doesn't matter. 05-06 draw signal from multiple sources, if you adjust the signal from the trans output you will get a CEL because the wheel speed sensor will no longer jive, it will think the trans is slipping. This appears to be unique to the 5 speed, doesn't affect the 4 speed at all.

Makes sense. I wonder if anyone has tried modifying the signal behind the cluster.

Yes, here are notes from somebody else's adventure. It makes me curious to know how the computer is okay with bigger tires or lower gears but not signal manipulation at the sensor.

On 1st-gen Tundras, with auto-trans, and ABS, there are 3 inputs that the ECU looks at for speed.
    1. Speed sensor on trans input shaft
    2. Speed sensor on trans output shaft (ECU compares input speed to output speed to detect trans slippage)
    3. ABS wheel speed sensors (combines the 4 separate sensors into a single average).

I had the Yellow box connected to the output shaft speed sensor, as I was instructed by the Yellr tech support rep I was working with. It did correct the speed signal, but the CEL came on because now the ECU thought the trans was slipping, and threw a code.

I then tried connecting the Yellow box to the harness directly behind the instrument cluster, but that didn't work either, because the speedo isn't the final link in the circuit for the speed signal (which I found very odd). A side effect of mounting it at this point was that the shift points were messed up, since the trans speed was uncorrected, but the indicated speed was.

Yellr sent me a second Yellow box, so I could attempt to connect both the input shaft sensor, and the output shaft sensor, but again, that didn't work because it was still seeing a conflicting speed from the wheel speed sensors.

anyone tried a 07 tundra speedo calibrator... the 4.7 in them used the same transmission and toyotas speed signal is standard across all post 2005 vehicles...
hell i have the speed signal going to my radio in my truck from a 19 toyota 86....
