    Hello guys,

I've owned a Tundra since 2001 but let my nephew use it for about 5 years. Recently got it back. It's an SR5 with the 4.7L V8.

The check engine light is on in the truck but when I hook it to the scanner, the scanner powers up but says it can't communicate.

I've cleaned the port and the pins on the scanner look straight. Any other suggestions?

I need to get whatever it is fixed as it can't pass inspection in NC with the light on. My nephew lived in SC and wasn't a problem for him.

    Thanks!

Have you tried the scanner on a different vehicle? I had to replace the cable on my scanner after a number of years, it stopped communicating. Stop by your local auto parts store and see if they can pull codes. If their scanner wont communicate at least you know it's not the scanner.
