For those that pulled the carpet, was the carpet and pad just laying on top of the sheet metal, or glued down?

I just pulled up the back to run some wires under the foam and it was just laying on it. Once the trim is off, it was easy to pull up.

Here is a pic I took to show how to install the esp storage. As far as I could pull up, it was just laying there. I went as far and under the floor mat area of the backseat.
