What tires are you guys running?
I’m looking around at 285/70/17 Mud Terrains, and I’m not sure what to get.

If you guys have recommendations or experience with a certain tire, give me a shout.
    Thanks!

I’m Running Cooper STT Pros. love them super solid. Plenty of abuse and the side walls and very strong. All MTs are loud and heavy

I would start here for research but probably buy from Discount Tire if you have them in your area. Those coopers mentioned above are made in the USA and so are the BF Goodrich.

I have DuraTracs on my 4Runner and they have over 80k miles on them... albeit mostly road. But they did well, in Sand, Snow, Dirt/Mud... not great on wet roads but not bad, you just need to understand their limit. Not a true MT... I say its an aggressive AT... between an AT and MT tire. I've heard great things about the Cooper Tires and just bought a set of Discoverer At3 XLTs... I think the S/T Max and STT Pro are both good tires depending on how aggressive you want to go. STT Pro really being the MT between those two...

Also... I would highly recommend a Discount Tire location near you assuming they have solid reviews on Google (I suspect they will). They were great to deal with when getting my Cooper's. Wish I knew about them a long time ago.

Unless a mud terrain is needed, I would stay away. I ran a set on my Chevy 1500 and they were horrible. They were extremely loud, didn't balance well, wear fast and had terrible road manners. There is plenty of 'hybrid' tires out that I have grown to like. They offer the aggressive look but not the aggressive ride. I tried a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers on Dodge Mega Cab and I have been sold on them since. My other truck ('16 Duramax) sports them in a 285/55/R22 which is basically a 34.5" tire and I have zero complaints. They balance well, ride nice and have plenty of traction in all conditions.

    Ridge Grapplers

Fun fact - The Ridge Grapplers have two different side walls so you can chose which side sticks out.

My tundra currently has a set of Duratracs only because I got them for free after some horse trading. Eventually I want to level it and run some Kenda RT's in 33x10.50x17's. One guy has them on his work truck and so far, he likes them.

I’ll take a peek at some hybrid tires. Quite frankly, I didn’t know they were a thing.

I’ve been running Mastercraft Courser AXT all terrains without issue, just wanted something that looked more aggressive.

Plenty of good options out there that are more aggressive without having to go to a mud tire

After reading tons of reviews, I settled on the Milestar Patagonia M/Ts for my truck. I don’t have them installed yet, but They seem to offer by far the best bang for buck on the market right now.

+1, unless you are getting in to some serious mud then no need for a MT. I ran MTs for years including Buckshot nylon ply MTs. They were great in the heavy stuff but sucked everywhere else. If you really want an aggressive look and have a good sound system get some Goodyear MTRs. My next tire will either be the Goodyear ATs exclusive to Discount or the Mastercraft ATX. I ran Cooper Maxx on my Tacoma and liked them.

I have ST Maxx's now, and after 13k miles they are loud as hell, and take a ton of weights to get them to balance properly.

I am now about to pull the trigger on Yokohama X-AT's as they are 3 ply like the Maxx's but will do a lot better on the road. To boot, Yokohama's are made in the US.

I didn’t think about Yokohama. I’ll have to look at them as well.

As @SouthPaw said. Ridge Graps are awesome. Had lots of tires and prefer these over any I have had.

Go with Yoko or Cooper’s. The rest are internet fad tires.

The Toyo MT is one of the best MTs in the market. YouTube reviews and written reviews from the US to Australia prove it. Many tundra owners run them. SDHQ runs them so you can give them a call if you need to. Many of the forum members out west run them. In the end though, everyone here is right. It will come down to price and weight and looks or noise levels for you. But all the tires mentioned will do just fine.

If you like the Mastercrafts you could go with the CXT or even the MXT. I have Cooper ST Maxx and love them. I believe the CXTs are based on the ST Maxx.

Those are "hybrid". Not very aggressive but so far so good. 295/70/17.

I considered the CXT’s as they are great looking tire. I had a set of Master Craft years ago and I had no complaints. If they made the size I wanted, I’d go with the CXT’s.
