I was wondering where folks are getting their extended warranties and how much your paying? I see some have 10year and 100,000miles?

I bought my 2017 CM 1794 as Toyota Certified Used with 34k miles and paid maybe $2500 for a 7yr 84k mile transferable warranty (don't quote me on price). The convenient part was adding the warranty dropped my interest rate by around 1-1.5% which ended up paying for the warranty. I'm pretty sure the warranty is directly through Toyota via the purchasing dealer.
The inconvenient part is I ended up moving about 30 minutes away about 2 months later and any and all warranty claims still need to be authorized by the original dealer I purchased from.

That's the ticket. I tried all the other people in all the other threads, as well as most dealerships here in PHX, and none were within 400 bucks of hers. I got the 8yr. 100k I believe for under 1100. I'd have to check.

I got the 7 year 100k for around $1400 if I remember right through the dealer when I bought my 18.

I think I’ll hit 100k before 7 years, but that’ll be my trade in time.

Got mine thru my credit union and it's 7yr 100k for $850. I can renew again after my term is up also. Have the same on our Burb and it works out great.

Anyone know of a Canadian connection or vendor outside of dealer?

I did some digging on this and the best I understand it is that the factory warranty system is set up differently in Canada. Canadian dealerships aren't able to discounr warranties like US dealers. 3rd party extended warranties like First Canadian Protection Plans are available cheaper but are nowhere near as good as OEM Toyota plans.

If someone finds something different, I'm all ears though!

That has been my understanding too. Canadian laws, regulations, same as CRTC and Canadian Content on radio etc.

Our province is tied to MPI (Manitoba Public Insurance) and we don't even have a second option, so they can monopolize it.

Time to hit up a couple dealers (where we bought the Tundra and Rav) and see who can offer us a better deal.

    Thanks!

Definitely let us know if you find one. When I was doing my research, I called a few dealers in Alberta. They all said the price on toyota.ca was the price they charged for a warranty. No way to discount it. :(

No it's thru Mercury extended warranty. But I have the freedom to take it anywhere. So for the most part I take it to the dealer unless it's something I want my mechanic to fix. As long as your mechanic is ASE certified you can take it to a shop is what they tell me. Just glad I have a mechanic I trust with my daily's and toys

As long as your truck is under the 3yr/36000mi warranty you can add a extended warranty. If you are canceling a Toyota warranty and replacing it with another Toyota warranty, maybe its different. Just fyi, they will prorate the original warranty from day 1.

I went to the dealership and went to a finance guy. Signed a paper and off it went to the 3rd party warranty company. If you still owe on your truck it goes back to the bank and applied to your principal.

That is about the same as what Jen @ Wolverine, her price is $1570 for 8yr/125k. So you got a good deal!

Man, I should've done my homework, I feel like I got screwed after hearing about all of these great deals on warranties everyone got! My Tundra was certified use though, would that have affected my bargaining position?

Are these warranties through Jen cover Bumper to Bumper? Do they start at the end of the factory 3year warranty?

The duration starts from the day the vehicle is put in service, so the 10 year 125k warranty I bought is really on extending 7 years and 89k. You can go to the Toyota Financial Website and it explains what it covers. From what I can tell the Platinum Warranty covers everything except maintenance items.

I got the 8 year/125,000 warranty through Toyota. I went through a broker when buying the vehicle which he includes this in all his vehicles sold. I paid $1427. I see many posting the 10year/100,000 or 125,000 but I thought 8 year was the longest they went. Usually I'm wrong. Here is a picture of the warranty paperwork and also comes with a wallet card. It is $0 deductible. Its also nice to go through Toyota cause nothing will be left in your hands. They look at the VIN and its done. thumbnail_IMG_7120.jpg

No different than in Florida then, where the prices are regulated and can’t be discounted
