I am thinking about installing the Bilstein 5100s and have a few Qs. If I set the front ones to one of the higher settings it should level the truck, my Q is, do I need the extra spacers (differential/etc..) that I see that come with the cheaper spacer lift option? Are the rear 5100s adjustable or do they just allow more travel if you add a block or shackles? If I add a block to the rear for a 1” lift then I will be not level again, I believe there are shims that can be added to the front, are these just like a spacer lift? I appreciate the input. Thanks!!

Middle setting (1.5”) will pretty much level your truck (you will still have a little rake). No extra spacers required. In the rear, the shocks don’t provide any lift, you need to add blocks or preferably shackles. Do a quick search on here and you will see 100s of photos of people who have done this before you for reference.

Most people set the fronts on the middle setting to level it out and nothing else.
A few have put it on the top setting to level it out, which I still can't figure out why some use middle and others had to use top settings.

I've had the 5100s at top setting since 2011. Recently replaced the rear 5100s with 5160s ... the 5100s leaked oil and got covered in gunk (Bilstein claims this is 'normal' ... they still function fine, but looked like sh*t ... not that it matters, but it bugged me). The fronts have been solid, no issues whatsoever. Great product.

Diff drop not needed, but I put it on anyway ... it's very easy and won't hurt anything (per my mechanic)

I have 6112s on the bench at the top setting which should level the truck out; the rear sits an inch higher since adding the Toytec shackles at the 1" setting. Also adding SPC UCAs ... again, not necessary, but if I ever wanted to put a proper 3" lift on the truck, I'll already have the diff drop & UCAs taken care of.5241CA6B-B280-47D2-934D-398ACB9F5A39.jpg
